I was going to try and write a response to each and every fellow Nomad who had shown their interest and concern for my safety and well-being during my
"misadventure" but there were so many of you involved that it is too overwhelming for me do so at the moment.
Instead, l will say this: Thank you to all who actively made phone calls, traveled from place to place searching for information, making contacts
with police and other authorities, checking bus stations, displaying my photo, interviewing local police and all other activity on my behalf. I
appreciate the time, energy, and expense that you were willing to sacrifice. There is no way that I can repay you for all of that.
I can only offer you a write-up trip report as a goodwill gesture and as a way of saying "Thank you." It will take a while for me to write it up
because I need time to recall all the details of the ordeal. Will try to have it done within 30 days.

I am a bit younger than you, and I enjoy the fact you are out on such an amazing journey.
Several years ago I was in Newport Beach harbor having lunch next to the public launch ramp. My old boat was tied up at the dock. All of a sudden
everyone at lunch yelled, scaring me. My back was to the water, and when I turned I watched as a cabin cruiser ran their bow over the dock, and hit my
boat. The operator was having difficulty and the boat was going in circles, hitting the dock and my boat a few more times.
As I reached the dock, everyone was yelling at the Captain. I asked everyone to stop yelling, and try to get him a line so we could have him turn the
engines off and pull him to the dock. Loudest one yelling was his wife.
When it settled down, I was impressed the Captain was 82 years of age, had purchased the boat (his first) 2 days prior, and had insured it just the
day prior (thank you Allstate). He was embarrassed and shook up. I shared with him how easy it is to get flustered when operating a new boat.
He phoned the next day, thanking me for being nice. Said his wife was going to make him sell the boat. I suggested he hire a Captain to teach him
about his boat, and become comfortable with it. I didn't stay in touch, but sure hope he kept his dream.
Sorry to be so long winded Desert Rat, but I do hope you will continue to live a large life. Take David K up on his offer, he enjoys tracking and
knows Baja well. If I was doing such an adventure I would ask David to assist me. Have never met him, but he goes out of his way to help others.David K - 5-26-2014 at 06:19 PM

Desert Rat, what a unique and oddly appropriate way to meet your fellow Nomad. You're doing what you love doing and in a manner that is singularly
your own. I gotta tell you, I admire you greatly.
You're well and safe and obviously one. tough. boot. who lives up to your Nomad handle to the T.
