bahia asuncion and the amazing shari

OK, not even Shari knows this yet (unless she happens to be on the site when I finish posting)--in fact, only my best friend in La Paz knows...and now, YOU!
God willing and the Sea of Cortez don't rise, I will be living here happily-ever-after. I am as sure that I want to live out my days/years here as I am that moving to the Baja five and a half years ago was the best decision I've made in decades.
But enough about me!
la Bufadora Inn is breathtaking, remarkable, unique...all words that have been applied by others, I am sure. and soooo easy to get to, compared to, say, San Francisco de la Sierra. Hahahahaha. No, compared to just about any place I've been in the Baja, cuz the roads to here are straight, paved, and really fast if you want them to be.
the town itself is so graceful, peaceful, welcoming, lovely...all words that have been applied by others, I am sure. You really, really must come see for yourself. Or return, very soon, if you've been blessed with a previous visit here.
La Shari had ice in my minifridge and three kinds of pink flowers next to my bed. Because today is my birthday, I chose to treat myself to the gorgeous room with window walls on two sides overlooking the bay. She did lure me out just now with an appetizer: ritz crackers topped with homemade jam and little pieces of the goal cheese I'd brought for Shari from San Francisco.
This is going to be an annual event, I have decided. Even though I will only be living across town and presumably can visit frequently (I do so hope Shari and I will continue to enjoy getting to know each other; if not, think of the great scandals/gossip that could happen!). A week, I'm thinking, next year. Come to town to help me celebrate--starting tonite, there is an annual Susan/a's Birthday at Loncheria Mari dinner (and movie provided by Shari)!

Well...indeed that was a surprise but not entirely as I will never forget the first 15 minutes standing here at La Bufadora vowing I WILL LIVE HERE SOMEDAY! It took me a few years to fulfill my destiny but here I am...and here you are Susan.

It was serendipity you should spend your birthday here to witness the warmth of the village. Here are some photos of the event. Tomas & Anabertha outdid themselves with a fantastic birthday caracol pate!...stuffed tomatos, halibut and cake of course. Juan's band played for us to complete the evening.

We wish you a very Happy Birthday and a hearty welcome to the familia.

Now you all can see why I picked Bahia Asuncịn for our down south home!

Great for you, Susan! Happy birthday and congratulations!

And off-topic, but that man with the goatee standing behind you with his hand on your shoulder looks so much like my first husband (at first glance) I did a double-take!

Here are the guys singing Las Mananitas to Susan...the Mexican song sung to you on your birthday.

Tha amazing Shari, and her traveling musicians, led by Shari's husband, Juan (the man playing the accordion).
