This will be our first time to drive south of Loreto. I've seen quite a few postings about Ciudad Constitucion...can't tell if this problem is getting
better or still ongoing. Other than this town....any others we need to exercise extra caution around?David K - 6-3-2014 at 10:28 PM
La Paz... the locals do NOT stop for stop signs if they think they can beat you across and intersection, so be careful!Mula - 6-4-2014 at 04:47 AM
No problems lately around Consitucion except for the road construction before Insurgentes and after Consitucion.
Long expanses of detours. Very dusty!baja99 - 6-4-2014 at 06:32 AM

Also, in La Paz, stops lights seem to be optional. Be careful stopping at any traffic control if there is someone fast and close behind you.bajalinda - 6-4-2014 at 06:56 AM
Lots of road construction going on north of La Paz also.Udo - 6-4-2014 at 08:16 AM
David is right about the stopping.
Here is what happened when I STOPPED at a stop sign. The bus behind was expecting me to make a rolling stop:
Ended up at the police station for 5 hours filing reports.

Constitucion does observe traffic stops...or at least the cops expect all gringos to. that's every light and every stop sign. not much problem
lately but don't draw attention to yourself. stop!
La Paz is famous for creative stops. rule seems to be that tonnage rules and everyone expects other vehicles to make rolling stops.
Expect delays on your trip...at the Mirador south of Loreto, just before El Juncalito, you may be stopped for up to an hour for road work. ditto for
return.
lots of construction/detours south of there to Insurgentes, with thick dust.
add 1-1/2 hrs to the usual time for the trip in case you hit the road block at the wrong time.baja99 - 6-4-2014 at 07:05 PM
