How the Palm Tree Guy Does It - Trimming the Dead Leaves

Gypsy Jan - 6-4-2014 at 10:49 AM

We have some very tall palm trees next to our house and we have been worried about the dead leaves waving over our roof.

We found a guy to trim the trees. He climbed up about fifty feet off the ground, just using a skinny rope to help him get up to the top.

He had a machete hanging off his belt and he dragged a chain saw by hand up with him .

When he was finished with the trimming, he climbed back down and then inspected the trees to make sure everything was even.

That guy has bigger balls than I do!

That is the way it's done.....

Rope walk up.....maybe some spikes on the boots to stick in the trunk.
Whack the dead fronds and important to whack the snake looking flower pods also.

Some use a long extension ladder to get up, but still use that rope to secure them to the trunk.

Light a match and step back. Worked just fine in San Ignacio.
