A report right from the source:
The week of June 8-14

The Environment:

Water – Consistently 80 to 83 degrees. Morning northerly winds early in the week, calming in the afternoon.

Air – Warm. Highs in the 90s.

The Bottom Line:

It was a big week for both billfish and roosters. The Let's Talk Hookup Tournament results: 17 boats fishing 3 days released 81 striped marlin, 1 sailfish and 38 roosters over 40-pounds! Lots of dorado, pargo, pompano and amberjack were also taken. A group of anglers fishing with Harold Davis claims they are experiencing mind-blowing action.

All-in-all: a solid 9 or 9.5 on the Rancho Leonero 1 to 10 scale.

Marlin – Almost all the billfish were striped marlin found off the La Ribera Bank to the Lighthouse and only 3- to 7-miles off the beach. Both ballyhoo and lures working about equally. These were mostly blind strikes; 2 to 4 fish per boat released daily.

Dorado – They are back in good numbers. Average fish is around 10-pounds. For the last three days, all anglers have been limiting. Dorado are mixed with the billfish and taking the trolled ballyhoos aggressively.

Roosterfish – They are feeding along all beaches. The bigger fish are being taken south of the Lighthouse in Rincon Bay in about 40-feet of water. 40- to 70-pound fish are common ... all on live caballito. As one guest succinctly put it, “Awesome gallo fishing! It does not get any better than this.”

Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch …

Very good pompano, pargo and jack fishing.
