Around when would you say this photo was taken? Hint, it was after the invention of the camera.
This guy is a pro, he hires out to bring in the wildest of cattle. He figures he spends about 4 to 5 hours subduing and delivering each one. He has on
the regular full gear, but with the polainas and espuelas on over a pair of home-made sandalias. I asked him what that was about, and he said he is
very modern.

For the southern portion of la Mula Mil some did, some didn't yet the old style saddle from years ago was still in use more so in the sierras. It was
good to see the old traditional equipment still in everyday use...and mules, baby, mules....in the northernest sections the guias used horses (except
for Esteban Meling who has a BIG mule!) (we had our All-Terrain mules!) and so we ended up camping not in the best places for the mules and us but in
places where we could get hay hauled in for those horses. They just could not eat what our mules munched on happily.

I thought of this post when I scored on this pair of chaparreras this past weekend at the swap meet. I picked them up for when the time comes for me
to live full time in Baja, I'll be ready to jump on my mule and go All-Terrain off roading.
I love the "very modern" style, but would worry about my toes when they come out of the stirrups. There is something pretty cool about spurs with
sandals, though! I can't knock it till I try it!

Mules Rule! Might ask the Vaqueros if they have ever seen a Mule act like this.

On the other hand, you can get some real deals on certain horses from outfitters.
This B.C. one never mentioned that some of our pack horses were house pets.

I only know Mexico for finding mules.
Ranches and mountains from La Paz to Rosarito are all possibilities. Must get the word out.
I'll be searching around Loreto only because Loreto & mountains I know the most people.
Much better price in BCS. BC, they are more expensive. More to choose from down south as well.
