Most of us have had some kind of misadventure with gasoline that we carry in cans down bad roads. Spilling it all over the place being one.
Today after my morning surf I decided while I was still wet to suck up the bougainvillea bracts that pile up around the yard like little purple snow
drifts in the east cape wind. The sucker/blower was low on gas so I added some and went to work.
Apparently I hadn't gotten the gas cap on tightly and the fuel began to leak right down the front of my board shorts. I didn't notice a thing, at
first, since I was already wet from the ocean. So there I go la dee da sucking up bogies and getting myself all dusty as usual.
The pain started with a slight burning sensation DOWN THERE. Oh my, what is that? Within about ten seconds it was a full three alarm blaze in my
pants. YOWEEEEEEEEE! Off at a sprint to the outdoor shower on the other side of the house.
After a vigorous scrubbing (that wasn't even fun}, I seem to have survived without further damage.

Good way to get rid of spilled gas is to light a match.

When I was running my big truck back east I put a couple gallons of gas in each diesel tank it kept the diesel from jelling up.

Changing a fuel line on my old VW bus (underneath) I forgot to depressurize it and my entire shirt and pants were dripping wet of fuel. I ran straight

Gas station attendant overfilled the tank on my big Yahama 1100XS street bike. I had a business meeting out of town about noon in August in Las Vegas
and I had to take the freeway the 30 miles from the station.
With 4 big carbs I thought I might be able to burn off the excess BUT I was wrong and I rode the whole way covered with gas while watching it pour
down all over the motor, exhaust.
Made the meeting and nobody was the wiser cause the speed/wind dried my trousers and seemed to leave no discernible tell tale odor.55steve - 6-28-2014 at 01:17 PM

I was just hoping it was cheap gas and that it (and me) wouldn't reach ignition outside the big engine (but then I remembered the big bike
wanted/needed good high octane gas which I usually sought). Had that happened on the freeway there would have been nothing to lick.
