Free RV beach camping south/around of San Felipe?

Anywhere around San Felipe to camp on beach for free in a 35' RV, no hook ups needed. Looking for cheap living this winter!

ok, NOT free but not $40 usd/night?? anything like Santispac where it's $6 usd/night? Or an RV park with a monthly rate under $400? Can't find much info online re: camping/RV spots is all, any constructive criticism is helpful. Thx!:spingrin:

I was at Nuevo Mazatlán beach a year ago, and was $25/night for a picnic table, and pit toilets. Big trees w/ shade, but I have RV'ed cheaper in the States this summer.

Since the Road has been vastly improved not only to San Flip, but past it for over 50 miles now, you won't find any more 'free beaches' or even cheap camping. I believe I paid $18 (or so) at Rancho Grande in Gonzaga bay.

Where there used to be fish camp after fish camp, you'll now see housing developments after housing developments. I'm talking for the entire drive. Seriously, there are no more 'cheap camps' in Baja; Santispac is $10 or $12 a night now (or more). San Felipe is close, accessible quickly, and ..... taken.

Good luck; might want to go down for a week the first part of the season in a car, get a $30 motel room and do some recon for a few days before hauling a big rig down for the winter. I was lucky, stayed with friends that own a house in one of the many 'developments' just past N. Mazatlán, and due to crowding, had a helluva time just parking my RV on their lot.

bajabudda is correct about the camping gig as of late...I think folks in Baja are shooting themselves in the foot..I know many,,many winter Baja rats that wont return after many seasons in Baja....every where you turn is pay,,pay,,pay...So said to see......:wow:

Aye, but therein lies the rub! They are paying. All those houses weren't built just as 'spec' houses, the old rats started buying and building; WE STARTED IT, pardner. We (old-tymers) are the ultimate hypocrites for thinking we can be the LAST PIONEERS, slam the door, and tic-toc, nobody else can play.

I'm sure you've heard the old saying, "bad roads bring good people".

No free stuff in San Felipe near the water.

Lots of free spots south of San Felipe. Just get past Puertecitos. One area which is 7 miles south of Puertecitos is named Black Mountain. North side or South side. South side has a cove......use the search engine here to see my write ups on this area and the cove.....and the Sea of Cortez side to BoLA

There are many spots that one can pull up to make camp. Been doing this for 15 years. The new highway makes it a little more difficult to access some areas due to the curb that was installed...or the old entrances were bulldozed away. Still...if you take your time...I say you can find 40 spots.

Great fishing from the shore or for kayak fishing.

Word up, Deno. Just remember, if you're camping alone, and go out fishing or for a beach walk, make sure everything is locked, chained, bolted, welded and have a beeeeeg rottie tied up under the rig.....

When I responded with some camp names it was AFTER Travelinleah modified the request to "Not Free"... since a free motorhome accessible beach camp site probably doesn't exist unless your motorhome is 4WD and the tide lets you onto Shell Island, and you let enough air out of the tires!

Are you talking about Huntington Beach or Newport Beach? Yes...I lock em up tight when I go to the Southern Cal beaches!

25 years of being in Mexico......never yet had a serious issue. Take a little common sense and luck I suppose.

Very happy to see u still here after our conversations about mental cases :-)

....I took a careful look for the same ('wild-camping) 2 winters ago..it's possible I missed something,,,but ended up doing the pay-camp in GonzagaBay....there were a # of places that seemed they might be possible,,,but the concrete curbage with the new highway created something of a barrier to exploration.

......consider travelling further south--quite a geo/demo/climate difference beyond Mulege,,,and well worth the drive if you're staying a 'while',,,,,,or maybe the mainland ~sanCarlos--used to be good there.;D

Hey! Would you like to be on a beach south of town? Say about 45-50 km south? Easy drive to the Ejido and an easy drive to CowPatty's too!

Let me talk to my landowner. I personally would Love to have someone at the campo full time! Its a small campo with only a few houses. It has a beautiful beach with tide pools and is so quiet you can hear the birds wings flap as they fly overhead. :yes:

One thing about the new highway and access off the shoulders is she needs to consider a 35' RV and edges/ledges/sand; i'd recommend finding an RV park, paying the bucks, and doing some recon for a possible spot.

Far's San Carlos goes, rotsa ruck. Keno Bay's even worse.

Yes....them curbs were really a shocker. I carry a short stack of 2x4x16 to make ramps. One does need a high set vehicle.

You got it, bro-me... BIG difference between van or tent camping, to slide-in camper, to 35' trailer.... I've graduated all of the above (well, 28' 5th wheel now, call me a woosie). I still carry LOTS of wood slabs and blocks just from past experience, and end up using a few now and again. Spent a few hours replacing still-dripping black plumbing from losing it on those edges and ledges. Reminds me of....... nevermind.

Travelinleah, KEEP ON TRUCKIN', take yer chances, but be careful. Best to be cautious, and BESTEST BAJA ADVICE, ASK SOMEBODY!!
