? regardingDreams resort in Los Cabos

A friend of mine and 4 of his buddies are spending next week at this resort, mostly golfing. I've been to Cabo once and that was 12 years ago and they are peppering me with questions on what to do besides golf. (no fishing) Anyone know if the resorts take people to Cabo Pulmo to snorkel. Anything else you can recommend they do?

It was once a Melia hotel. It is now an all-inclusive. Rooms and the grounds are pretty decent. But, I have to believe that if your friends want to go to Cabo Pulmo, they should be advised to rent a car. Cabo Pulno is fairly far away from this hotel which is basically half-way between San Lucas and San Jose.

I have my own issues with all-inclusive properties, simply because they discourage folks from going off property and exploring the area. Given that there are so many great restaurants in the Los Cabos area, my personal opinion is to not go to an all-inclusive resort in the first place.

All-inclusives sprung up originally in resort areas with high crime rates, such as Jamaica. They have apparently gotten traction all over because of the drinking crowd. Just my opinion.

Spend lots of money, get very sunburned, and sleep in the bathtub at least once. That's the current list of priorities in Cabo.

They could go to Chileno or Santa Maria for a day at the beach.

Santiago - UV Index quite high so if they are not sun-familiar (hope that phrase makes sense) plz remind them about sunblock, hats, visors, long sleeve cotton shirts and/or best to keep out of the sun as much as possible ...

Depending on the grandbabies ages, swimming and snorkel at Santa Maria or Chileno Bay .. again depending on their age/interests San Jose del Cabo is a nice town to wander around in, and if Jim & Judy are around go see them! Am sure they can suggest places around that are age appropriate for the group.

830 is cheap.... I wouldn't even consider renting out my buggy... Hang back out of the dust!!! :cool:

Edit to add.. 830 is cheap compared to what they are going to spend after getting a sample of how much fun offroad cars are, and they go out and buy one for themselves... :lol:

It would be fun to have that experience....just real expensive.....

Some folks like the roller coaster ride.....they rarely buy one.

But, it is just a suggestion for this guy's vacation.....hope he and family have a great time no matter what they do.

Way cheaper to rent a car and drive the East Cape road from San Jose up to Los Barriles.....dusty, technical sections (erosion and rocks).....and even pay for the damage :biggrin:

Totally agree. San Jose is a great town to wander around in, with many nice shops and restaurants. Better to head there near sunset, as it is cooling down.

Santa Maria Bay and El Chileno are great spots to swim and snorkle.

Cabo Pulmo is way far away from the Dreams hotel. Not that it isn't a magnificent place to visit, but there are many miles of dirt road involved, as opposed to Chileno and Santa Maria.

Dreams has a concierge desk that should be very helpful with regard to setting up day trips, arranging for transportation, etc. It was through them that I set up a day trip to Todos Santos back in 2008, and that's when the Baja bug bit me.
