superbusydad - 7-17-2014 at 08:14 AM

My family wants to stop in La Paz for breakfast that reflect the city and a view-suggestions please!

rhintransit - 7-17-2014 at 08:23 AM

good grief, stop micromanaging and think about a little spontaneity. it's just breakfast. this is your 24th post in 17 days about an upcoming vacation. no wonder you are super busy!

ps I do wish you a great trip!

La Perla would be my choice, not so much for the food(which is ok) but for the people watching. They have fresh squeezed OJ. I think I remember a good menu for children.

2nd La Perla ~ French toast was okay too.

I agree, great spot to linger over coffee.

I like to plan my trips in advance, and be efficient with my time, and that is why I ask a lot of questions!!!! I appreciate the great advice- La Perla will be our stop. I have been there in the past (great choice)!

SBD,
I am a Virgo, and have been accused of micro-managing trips into oblivion by others ( look up Virgo traits for those not yet in the Age of Aquarius  ).

I find that such planning helps me out....but sometimes wrecks the experience because I am in a mind pre-set that disallows me from "being present" when travelling.

Loosen up a bit, let go of some of your need to control things as suggested by others, and make the trip an adventure rather than roll-call for the kids. :saint:

in that case, another option would be The Dock, at Marina de La Paz. great setting watching the docks, food is good, possibly better than La Perla, but the latter is definitely a classic.

I haven't kept up with the day to day planning but I vaguely remember your asking about driving from the East Cape area to Loreto in one day. if you are thinking of just stopping in La Paz for breakfast, it won't be quick. just working your way down the malecon is fun, but takes awhile. as does parking, etc.

Count one vote for upstairs at the Rancho Viejo on the Malecon.

Better to have breakfast in Loreto as it is a 4 to 5 hour drive to La Paz from Loreto.

Have lunch in La Paz.

I hear there's a movie in the werks about this trip, starring Chevy Chase....

La Perla gets my vote also, although you may have to walk a few blocks to park your car.

bajalorena - 7-17-2014 at 04:09 PM

The restaurant at La Perla is called La Terraza. I recommend it.

Fernweh - 7-17-2014 at 07:03 PM

Perla my first choice, cool in the morning, and the view to watch people in the evening is priceless.

The food and service sucks big time, use your Visa or MasterCard....

There is only tourist breakfast to be found on the Malecon. Nothing that will "reflect the city". Check you Olympia Cafe if you can find it.

I second the Dock, nice atsmophere and not touristy like the malecon. I also second the "take it down a thou" idea. Baja is not the US, planning only goes so far.

I second this. people watching is great anytime, food is terrible, but hey, it's only breakfast.

BajaBlanca - 7-19-2014 at 06:45 AM

The dock os great and perla is great. Good part of the dock is that parking is easier.
