Clouds ~ Rain in Mulege?

Russ - 8-1-2014 at 04:29 PM

In the last few hours the whole length of the sierras burst with clouds. This happens ofter during the summer but usually only a small area. Check out the Sat loop on eebmike.com.
At 5:30 the clouds are so dense that I've los my internet connection with Hughsnet. well, I guess it is intermittent enough to post but not for photobucket. Cloud photos to follow when I get photobucket back. This storm has gotten a lot bigger in the last 15 minutes and it may just bring Chivato some showers too if it continues. All of Concepcion is obscured by rain now and any photos would be gray unless I got lucky and got a lightening flask. There is an unbelievable light and thunder show going on right now.

Came up from the east cape this afternoon. Heavy rain and lightening north of Bariles thru the mountains ending on the outskirts of La Paz.

not much rain on the bay in mulege...clouds and blue skies

just enough water to keep the dust down

now...the mountains behind us got drenched...the road...nothing

the temp cooled ...maybe rain in town

we didn't lose internet but lost tv for about 1/2 hour

Mulege Pueblo got whumped!

It blew like a hurricane here for a good hour and a half, sheets of rain coming in sideways from the southwestern mountains.

Loma Azul was without electrics the whole time while the town retained services. Our papaya tree lost several branches and our fig tree is drooping. Darn!

As the storm passed and rain let up, the wind lessened in intensity and came in from the north.

It was a beautifully colorful sunset aftermath.

wow...so very dramatic clouds and LOVED the lightning picture!!! We can see the knarly clouds over the gulf and mountains from here. It was a normal hot sunny day here with about 13 knots of wind in the afternoon from the NW which is what keeps those systems just out of our barrio....usually. Today it even got a bit cloudy late this afternoon here.

Juan and I even made a bet on rain...I won..as usual ne'er a drop here. Hopefully there will be some lighting later to admire.

We got hail here on the other side of the river in El Cacheno. After 35 degree heat. And enough wind to blow down my front fence. Perfect temperatures now though. And an entire harvest of limons on the ground.

In Bahia de Los Angeles we had cloud cover all day yesterday, Thursday. Today we woke to clear skies, but by 2:00 the thunder was booming overhead. We could see rain and lightning to the south of us in the valley. We got a few big drops, enough to put the tarp over our bed up on the deck. Nothing came of it though, except for the rising humidity.

Does anyone know if the rain made it to San Ignacio or over to the Pacific side? The sat map makes me think San Ignacio yes but Pacific no??

About 5pm, Mulege got 50+mph winds for 30 minutes and buckets of rain. Lost 3 palms that I can see from my house. My internet /tele line came down via a huge palm tree, as well as the power line that a palm took down 3 houses up river. River road is blocked east of the Jungla. Palm debris everywhere. All the festive decorations for a birthday party got destroyed, but the party still continues!
