Bujabudha, Kyocera is just one brand. There are few other big names in the industry, - Sharp, Solar World, REC. Trina Solar, albeit a Chinese
domestic brand, have a good reputation too. The cheapest panels are usually little known "fresh brands", so to speak - panels from China that nobody
heard of, until recently. It appears that every rice farmer in China has switched to making solar panels in his barn, in his spare time ...
Don't know if there is such a thing as a "one-stop solar store". Stores with a decent selection and/or good prices on panels, rarely have same good
selection and prices for batteries. Not to mention controllers, cables, breaker boxes and other bits and pieces.
There aren't too many brands of Deep Cycle batteries - Ciclo Profundo - they are heavy and expensive to ship. US Costco used to sell re-branded
Johnson Control batteries, cheap. Flooded, but you don't need AGM unless you leave them in storage without charge for +6 months.Kell-Baja - 9-4-2014 at 04:20 PM

Outback products are a very good choice for off grid solar systems. You won't be disappointed.

How fragile are solar panels? I just bought one for my RV and I'm wondering if it's OK to mount it permanently, flat on the roof. I understand flat is

its not. but fine for months when the sun is overhead, but for winter months you will want to tilt it up. most folks just use a happy medium and
forget about it

We have a 29 foot Class A and or thinking about getting solar. We plan on spending March-May in South Baja. How large of a system did you install?
Have you had a chance to use if much? If so, were you able to get a couple of days without running your generator?

Not fragile. Don't understand how mounting it permanently can be the cause to break it?
No, flat is not optimum for winter. You will lose some output. But on RV roof flat panel is - usually - the best solution. Keep in mind that
so-called "flat" should still have a few degrees tilt, to shed the debris and rain/dew.
Somebody asked about "couple of days without generator" - it depends on the user. I can live a couple of months without it (can't afford to stay
longer in Baja, yet). 500W solar, flat. Another guy is making it on 300W, tilted, running generator maybe once a month. Guy across the camp is
running his genny for 5-6 hours every day, with 400W solar, tilted.
Btw, $135 for T105 battery in the OP store is a decent price - for Baja. Everything here costs more than NOB, only rice and tequilla are cheap
