A Little Birdie told me about the toll road TJ to Ensenada...

EnsenadaDr - 8-21-2014 at 09:16 PM

Ron Paris, owner of Nube Pizzeria, KM 58, take a right off the La Fonda exit told me a little secret. He is training on his mountain bike to do the Rosarito-Ensenada Bike race and word has it that September 14th or thereabouts the toll road will be open for just cars and bikes, in time for the big race and to get tourism back in gear. There will only be two lanes open, no trucks. No he doesn't know Maria the beautician. By the way his calzones are only $60 pesos and phenomenal, all flavors and his pizzas and salads are wonderful.

Won`t hold my breath on the road repairs, but the calzones, pizzas, and salads sound great. Will give it a try!!

I would like to be the bookie on this one

Over/under bet of Sept 14 being ready........ is 14 to 1 odds, we shall see

Yes even if they open one lane for the Bike race, it can do wonders for the image and future business of Ensenada. I will keep you posted as it gets closer to the date.

It would be nice if they would confine the shipping trucks to the free road and get them off of the Tecate road in the process. Gawwwdammm things climb the hills on Hwy. 3 like glaciers.

...not a bad idea....the coast road will always be frail at best :wow:
--it could only help to keep the trucks inland and separated,,reducing weight and vibration

A little birdie took a picture......

Reportedly 40% complete.....Done by the 15th? Don't think so.

Mexicali calls for April, 2015.

Whose bird is on the right?

Sol said that looks like an old picture but the 40% completion rate sounds right.

The guys at the road check point say it is going to be one more year.

Problem is...they don't know either. For the sake of their job, they hope it will never end.

I saw a photo somewhere not to long ago that showed a pathway around the construction work that could easily accommodate some cars and bikes for this occasion... It's what the construction workers are using to bring in supplies, etc.

I took this photo less than 2 months ago... a LONG ways from completion! You can see the detour road for construction traffic...

I guess the doctor's 'birdie's were sort of correct,,,and the doctor didn't claim the road would be complete--just 'open'...musta learnt to write fineprint from her friend 'ensenada lawyer'.........I'll be interested to see where the 'second lane' goes?:?:

...this section of highway is such a mess-it's unlikely it'll be out of the news for long--ever! :wow::wow:
