Don't like kibitzers...........Simple.....

Good Job!

Only real small yellowfin have made an appearance outside Mag Bay so far, but the wahoo showed up early with the warm water.

Maybe we will get some tuna later on......

A kibitzer is a non-participant person, offering (often unwanted) advice or commentary.

Look familiar?

chuckie - 8-23-2014 at 07:21 PM

bigmike58 - 8-23-2014 at 08:05 PM

I love it! Great day on the water fishing!

Thanks for the pics, we are launching from Oceanside in the morning and hope for some of the same action.

Looks like a great trip, Don! Nothing better than being on the water with family. Catching fish is a bonus!

Excellent, lots of fun for the family.

aguachico - 8-24-2014 at 10:38 AM

Congrats!!!

YFT fishing out of San Diego has been WFO.

I have started canning for the first time and it's great, but too hot to do in the kitchen. I added some canned chipotle to the canned tuna and it was really good. I got 20 YFT to can and smoke.

Time to learn how to make my own Soy Vay.

Nice I just got back from a camping trip in Eugenia. A few small bones were made into poke as well as a couple of YT by our amigo from Hawaii. I gotta learn that stuff, what a way to break up the meals with some fresh poke.

saludos.

going out next weekend to look for dodos.

I expect that weebray will be along soon to tell you that much of it will wind up in the dumpster because one family couldn't possibly use that much fish.lol

Sweetwater - 8-25-2014 at 08:21 AM

I've never "canned" fish....and I'd like to see some of the product as well as hear your process.....particularly how you smoke them and then can......my background is fresh water, mostly trout and some koke's, they always smoke up nicely but I have no idea how to can any of them.....nice photos.....my fishing companions have grown up and flown the coop, living independently and seem to be happy with their lives.

Bob53 - 8-25-2014 at 11:06 AM

Did you catch your fish under paddies, birds, on the troll or just soaking baits?

Great report:
Canning looks fun. I am going to try it soon. Just need to catch my fish!

Floatflyer - 9-25-2014 at 01:49 PM

I, too, love tuna but rarely am able to catch many. I just read in the October 2014 issue of Consumer Reports that the Worst fish to eat for mercury intake are Swordfish, Shark, King Mackerel, Gulf Tilefish, Marlin, and Orange Roughy. These fish are easily avoided by me and mine But, the other category of "limit your consumption of these higher-mercury fish" include fresh Tuna(except skipjack), Grouper, Chilean Sea Bass, Halibut, Bluefish, Sablefish(black cod), and Spanish Mackerel(Gulf).

This is not unexpected but still troubling since I have had some success in catching halibut and tuna in the past. Maybe being not that skilled at catching fish is a good thing?? But then again, at my age who GAS!
