Corruption

luv2fish - 9-5-2014 at 05:14 PM

List of most corrupt countries, Mexico and Baja are burning up the map. I thought with Ñieto Piña in office things would get better.

They got that from the Spanish influence, read some stories about the old Spanish colonies, nothing but corruption and nepotism, about the same as now in Mex

.
..it seems to me there's something of an apparent bias in that study towards a lower-level ,on street,,petty bureaucrat variety of corruption,,,,as opposed to a broader ,,upper end,,political, big business variety.

...personally,I prefer my corruption to be the simpler, more obvious flavor   :(

One's corruption is nothing but another's way of doing business.

We Americans can be so naive it's unbelievable. Go to any other country in the world and you will find giving anyone a bit of cash for providing a service is common.

Maybe not, but PRI had the ball for almost 80 years and the corruption thing was, IMHO kept in check, and all of the prisons weren't bursting at the seams. Now, I don't know what the heck is going on. Is it a global problem?? I think so, I think people have lost hope and are just trying to survive, some by being corrupt and others by enabling the corruption by paying bribes...

On the nosey. In the US, bribery is called lobbying.

JoeJustJoe - 9-8-2014 at 04:08 PM

Although I'm sure there is corruption everywhere, especially in the USA, and Mexico. Transparency seems to be another case of the fox watching the hen house, and TI has their own problems with transparency. There are many criticisms about Transparency International if you do a quick Google check, and as usual, just follow the money.
_______________________________________________

WHAT IS TRANSPARENCY
INTERNATIONAL?

Transparency International
is a self-appointed
organisation claiming to
represent “civil society” in
the “fight against
corruption”. The
organisation claims to be
an “NGO” and politically
neutral. However, there are
a number of factors that
seriously undermine the
credibility of the
organisation:

Funding: Transparency
International is funded by
multinational corporations,
many of whom have been
involved in corruption on a
large scale.

“Transparency International, a
lobbying association and CIA
correspondent funded by
governments and corporations,
especially American ones, that are
experts in the matter (of corruption
and bribe paying). These include
Lockheed, Boeing, IBM, General
Motors, Exxon, General Electric and
Texaco (13). The only objective of the
anti-corruption campaigns taken up
by international organisations (World
Bank, IMF, OECD) is the "good
governance" of a financial crime
that is now an integral part of market
globalisation under the leadership of
the American democracy, the
most corrupt on the planet.”
