Any word on Cabo Pulmo since Odile passed through?

CatCrazyJulie - 9-16-2014 at 10:13 AM

I was in touch with a friend in Cabo Pulmo via facebook as Odile was hitting. Haven't heard from him since that evening. I'm assuming that many/most of their solar panels are gone, and possibly their cell tower was knocked out.

But would love to know if anyone has word on how Pulmo is doing? Am guessing that the road between Pulmo and La Ribera may be washed out.

My husband and I were planning to drive from our home in California down to Cabo Pulmo, where we have a lot, starting the beginning of October. Obviously, road conditions and gas availability will now play a determining factor.

Sorry, I didn't mean to actually start a new thread! I haven't posted here much, so went about this the wrong way...

Road to Cabo Pulmo has a serious amount of water running thru the Arroyo just South of La Ribera , as of yesterday Afternoon - impassable at the moment . Also , a Bridge washed-out between Los Cabos and Las Cuevas .

Sorry , that's all I have -

Thank you for the info! Figured that arroyo south of La Ribera might be impassible for now.

One of the Cabo Pulmo dive shops (Cabo Pulmo Diving) has functioning satellite internet, and Pilu has posted that the town made it through okay after an awful night with 100 mph winds, although the town is currently isolated because roads are impassable.

One additional piece of info learned from the Cabo Pulmo Dive Shop facebook site today: the Cabo Pulmo cell tower is still standing, but not working, they believe because the huge Telcel tower in Los Cabos fell down.
