I have a friend who just came back from Bahia de Los Angeles, and he told me that the "conditions in Baja are the worst they have ever been". He was
referring to damage from the recent hurricane. Since I have several trips planned to the Catavina area and northern Pacific coast (Santa Rosaliita,
Punta Canoas, Punta San Carlos, etc), I was wondering if anyone knew how the conditions are for the dirt roads in that area? Much appreciated!liknbaja127 - 9-24-2014 at 08:58 PM

if we have rain it will be bad until "black toped"
santa rosalia to mulege is all repaired with dirt...not bad compared to what it was...amazing feats of repairs especially in guerrero negroTaco de Baja - 9-25-2014 at 08:10 AM
The fisherman and ranchers usually get the roads repaired fairly quickly as their livelihood depends on it. The low swampy areas will still be full
of water, but there is always a higher road around them for just such conditions. I am confident that since a week has passed, the roads to the coast
will be passable, it will just take longer than usual as the repairs will only be just enough to make it through....at least between the major fish
camps and Hwy-1...The road that runs along the coast itself, especially the couple areas that need 4x4 in good conditions....who knows? Bring a
shovel, pick and breaker bar, you might need them. BooJumMan - 9-25-2014 at 10:53 AM
Back in the day we didn't need roads! Now you can get out there with a darn Volvo stationwagon.
I can't wait to see the roads though. I'm hoping they are really bad so I can finally use my lockers!woody with a view - 9-25-2014 at 11:12 AM
I bet those estuaries have breached the berms in many spots. one year there were dolphins swimming in the SJ estuary when we went by.Mexitron - 9-25-2014 at 11:17 AM
