Taking Vehicle SOB For Repairs

DocRey - 9-29-2014 at 11:38 AM

Howdy. Does anyone have experience towing or trailering a non-operating vehicle SOB for repairs? Do the authorities need anything besides current vehicle paperwork? Fees? Etc.
I have a '72 VW Super Beetle in need of tranny & body/paint work. Just trying to save a buck or two. Besides, it'll give me an excuse to come down, Ha!
I'm in T.J./Rosarito area if anyone has recommendations on where to get the work done. Thanks.

C'mon folks! I specifically put this in the wrong category to get at least one reply. Even an admonishment!

I've seen lots of non running cars and trucks cross....

you only need registration for the car and trailer

They used to disallow cars on trailers coming down for repairs. They just figured it was more junk on a one way trip.

as long as you have papers you are good to go...at least right now

remember no cheap parts in mexico...
do the trans in rancho...guarantee is important

the paint...depends on what you want...

best cars are the survivors...
runs and stops good
nice clean interior
...forget the paint someone will only door-ding you anyway
