Gro Negro Hotel/Motel Recommendations?

kiterkip - 9-30-2014 at 06:44 AM

Making a 2-day speed run from San Ysidro to La Paz (La Ventana) and will be looking for a reasonable, clean, not 5 star, hotel in Guerrero Negro for my first night of this trip. With the long drive will probably be arriving after sunset, so hopefully the hotel has front office who answers the phone while I drive south. Thank You, Kip in Tacoma

Thanks!! Looks like I'll have plenty of options. Last year, arriving at 8PM New Years Day we honestly got the last available room in the entire town. Very loaded and busy highway with all the Gringos heading south after the Christmas break.

The Cowboy motel at the entrance of the town is a good place to stay.

the brand new Terra Sal has answered the phone every time I called!!! the number is 615-157-0133. Rooms are 550 pesos with 2 new king beds and you park at your door...it is the first hotel entering Guerrero Negro on the right.

If you want a cheaper place, La Posada don Vicente is further down the road on the right side too..350 for a king bed, very secure, nice folks and a pool.

That depends on the mood of the owner. We used to stay there often, but we grew weary of his attitude. One time he would be really okay with the dogs and very friendly (there were two at that time) and then the next time he would rant and rave, but usually gave in.

Then the person at the desk another time would say yes, and later the owner would go into another rant. We never minded him checking the room in the morning as we think that is a very good policy. We have never had a problem with our dogs in a hotel room, but I do know that is not always the case

We just did not want to deal with the nonsense anymore.

So, maybe, and maybe not. It depends on his mood.
