We are getting ready to head down to Los Barriles for the winter and are trying to figure out how to get the net works. I was thinking of getting my reciever pinged for the L.A. stations. Has anyone done that? Does anyone recieve net work stations in Los Barriles ( on dish )? If so how did you do it? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Not all of the satellite are received in that part of baja, if you want HD network channels, you will need to select a city on the 77 bird.

http://uplink.jameslong.name/chan77.html, this link has the different cities, I live in Cerritos and use an address in Jacksonville FL, just pick and rv park address in the city of your choice, I was able to keep the service address there, and still have the bills addressed at "my office address" for the credit card billing.

Works well.

If you're a football fan, you should consider Quad Cities, IA/IL; no NFL blackouts because they're not with 75 miles of an NFL stadium.

Contact Alan Thompson at El Dorado Satellite. They can hook you up with service for Dish through a city that does not have spot beams, allowing you to pick up network stations with your dish account. He's BCSTech on this site or google Eldorado satellite for webpage.

BTW, here is a list of channels and packages available in BCS on the 77° satellite, as well as links to individual and combined channel lists for all three available satellites:

If anyone's interested, I have a 1.2 meter (42") tall Winegard dish w/ a DirecTV LNB, mast and ground base for sale at San Lucas Cove (8 miles south of Sta. Rosalia). Sorry, no receiver. The base is a 3' x 4' plywood platform. It did pick up DirecTV at that location, however would not receive DISH with a dish LNB. Any reasonable offer will be accepted. The mast can be wall-mounted. Please u2u me for particulars and directions. I won't be there, but it can be purchased and picked up on weekends.

Oh, that reminds me! I need to add a disclaimer:

Both the 119° and 129° satellites have a hole in their coverage that extends from North of La Paz to South of Mulege. As you get further away outside those boundaries towards the middle, the signal can drop off quite a bit and you may not be able to pick up much of anything off these two birds. Within the boundary, you can use a 1.2 to 1.5 meter dish.

The 77° satellite can be picked up anywhere in Baja with a 50 CM (20") dish, and is great for RV'ers.
