Hi Cappy, excuse my ignorance, but arent the whales supposed to be southbound ?? Winter in Baja and summer in Alaska ?

Hola,,Im no whale expert..but I can tell you that all the whales are not in one area (Baja) at a time !! have always thought how funny it is that folks think they have to go to Baja to see whales..not true....Baja does have three natural birthing areas and they have been doing that forever...but there are a lot of whales thruout the worlds oceans and bays.....this happened here last year about 3 weeks later than this season...and you can see them fine with out glasses....really close to shore heading north..just outside the kelpbeds !! myself,, could not understand living inland !! anyone here seen a beluga whale..aka "casper the ghost" whales in the "turn again arm"??

Prolly humpbacks, not Greys... Lots do humpys and blues at the Channel Islands now.. Haven't seen a Grey yet... Almost time though!

Central Cal/Monterey Bay has been full of humpbacks all summer- my friends who live/work nearby ˙ave seen them leaping, feeding, frolicing near shore.

Enjoy!
