I have an account with the Ejido's wifi system in Bahia de los Angeles and for the last two trips down, my access point has not picked up the signal.
Being 4 miles south of town, I receive the signal with a small grid antenna that is connected to the access point (a router that is controlled by the
supplier of the signal - don't pay, they turn it off).
I have p*ssed and moaned about this to anyone who would listened to the point that SWMBO requested that I just shut up about it.
Turns out the 8" N to SMA pigtail that connects the antenna to the router was broken inside the outer sheath of the weather proof cabling. I had
tested everything possible but never considered that. Finally, the N fitting just fell off. Sheesh.
Of course, I did not have a back up but will come down with two next trip. Just because it says "weatherproof" don't make it so.

Town wifi is like everything else in life "you get what you pay for", so look at the bright side, it only costs 100 pesos a month.
