2004 SCORE Baja 1000 to be featured Christmas Eve
And New Year's Eve on CNBC Special Report
LOS ANGELES--This year's Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 will be featured Friday at 6 p.m. (EST) on a CNBC Special Report that will be re-aired on New
Year's Eve in the same time slot, it was announced today by Los Angeles-based SCORE International.
The half-hour special was produced by the popular CNBC Bullseye show, hosted by Dylan Ratigan.
Ratigan also participated in the race as a co-driver in the No. 2 SCORE Trophy-Truck of Pete Sohren.
The grandaddy of all desert races was held Nov. 18-20 as a 1,013.57-mile peninsula run down Mexico's majestic Baja California penninsula from
Ensenada to La Paz.
The race featured 284 starters, competing in 26 Pro and 5 Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs. Competitors came from 31 U.S.
States and 11 countries.
A race-record 190 vehicles finished within the 40-hour time limit in the elapsed-time race.
The overall motorcycle champions were the team of Steve Hengeveld, Oak Hills, Calif./Johnny Campbell, San Clemente, Calif./Kendall Norman, Santa
Barbara, Calif. with a time of 15 hours 57 minutes, 37 seconds on a Honda XR650R, averaging an event record 63.51 miles per hour.
The overall four-wheel vehicle champions were the team of Troy Herbst, Las Vegas/Larry Roeseler, Hesperia, Calif., with a time of 16:18:14,
averaging 62.17mph.
The legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is the annual season-finale of the five-race SCORE Desert Series.
