Storm Rolling into Bishop

DianaT - 11-1-2014 at 08:36 PM

Today while traveling from Reno back home, we went through the WONDERFUL early snow higher up 395, and then we found the storm rolling and roaring into Bishop!
We can only hope that this early weather will be followed by a lot more --- the drought is so awful!

Let it snow, let it rain!

I love weather! Great captures, Diane.

Holy Moses. Those clouds look like a wave. That must have been quite an experience. High drama.

Have been going through Bishop since 1949 (just a wee lad then). June Lake is a "second" home for me.

Diana,

Love a good storm :saint:

we spent a few days there last summer fishing and 4 wheeling. Neat area. Cool picture.

Thank you, the photos are very cool. You have a great eye, being there helps also.

Thanks everyone --- yes, we love weather and a good storm; all kinds of storms.

It was just beautiful when we saw if off in the east and had to wait for the first road east north of Bishop to get a bit closer. We lost some of what we wanted to capture ---- as do all storms, it kept changing. It was a very dramatic scene.

We still love living here, and this morning it is so great to see the mountain tops covered in snow! Bring it on, please!

Thanks for the great pictures, please send the clouds and rain down south when you have had enough.

thks

Some more of last summer's gentle showers to add to the mix. Very refreshing and very welcome to our farmers and ranchers. We could not exist without them.

Thanks Ron and Mary Ann ---- we need so much more rain and snow this year!

Nice one Roger --- Thanks for sharing it.

Beautiful photos of a place I know well. Most of the "rain" actually looks like virga.

Thanks --- that is not a term with which I was familar, but John is. He is the geographer in the family. And yes, some of it was virga --- and I am really happy to learn a new term for something I knew happened, but did not know had a name. THANK YOU.

It is a good place to know well.:yes:

No, it was actually on the back road on the east side that leads one to Vons. In this case, the foothills for the Whites instead of the Sierra Nevada.

Followed your path today southbound on 395 and it didn't last. Snow high on the mountains but it was sunny and 55 in Bishop late this afternoon. Here's hoping the next storm brings more fury.

Great pics! Thanks.

Yes bkbend, the lower snow didn't really stick --- only at higher elevations. And as I look out at the Sierras this morning, it is melting even on the high peaks ----

Yesterday was a magnificent blustery fall day with the leaves flying, clouds still hanging in some of the mountain valleys, and and cold enough in the evening that we had to turn on the heater and had our first fire. LOVE IT.

Thanks Neal! When a storm comes into this area, it behaves so differently in different locations that are all close together. Great entertainment for us!

Nice storm picture Rogelio.
