Advise for non Baja 1000 related travel around Baja 1000 dates

I was unable to leave the USA on schedule to return to Loreto and now must travel this weekend, just before the race. Any advise re travel, sharing the road with support vehicles and traveling observers, friends, families? Obviously hotel reservations are a must, but anything else I should be aware of? Thanks.

Just a "heads up"....

Two years ago I was driving north on Hwy 1 as the race was in progress and at dusk encountered pit crews and pre-runner Trophy trucks heading south with roof mounted bars of giant LED lights that literally blinded us as we drove to our destination El Rosario. As if the LED headlights weren't bad enough!

The exposure to the lights knocked out our vision and it was raining as well.
We couldn't see a thing for at least 30 seconds. Seems like a short time, but at 50 miles an hour towing a small trailer on Hwy 1 it seemed like forever.

Plus, the drivers pulled out to pass whenever and wherever they pleased....with little regard for the oncoming traffic.

Scary.

the racers, support staff and fans all seem to share a common neanderthal gene that causes antisocial, irresponsible driving,... for this reason, all civilized people should minimize their risk by staying off the road until the knuckledraggers return to USA.

Just take it easy and watch the traffic front and rear. Don't drive at night, pull off camp or find a hotel.
