Cabo Restaurant

Yesterday was our first visit back to downtown Cabo since March. We were prepared for lots of destruction but were amazed at how little debris was evident on the corridor road. Must be an amazing effort to try and get things back to "normal", still a ways to go.

For lunch we asked the business we had an appointment their recommendation and they recommended the El Coral, located directly across the street from the Wyndham Hotel, on the corner of Blvd Marina and Hidalgo. Restaurant has suffered palapa damage but is open and is clean and enjoyable. Owner has started an ambitious remodel project which will be impressive when done.

We had 2 of the daily lunch specials, I had 3 shrimp tacos, wife had a shrimp quesadilla, both came with guacamole and refried beans, AND a drink for $6.00. We chose to have Negra Modelos as our drink and were pleasantly surprised that they were included in the $6.00 price. Extra beers are 25 pesos each. The meals were served with an awesome guajillo chile salsa.

Owner, Roberto, is a friendly dynamo and has his act together as well as the rest of the staff. Food was excellent and we will put El Coral among our favorite places to eat in Cabo.

El Coral. We first went there in the early 1980s. Back then, they were pretty much by themselves on that corner. Since then, there has been development all around them. Don't know if it is the same ownership, but I do know that there are a bunch of better restaurants in Cabo that serve Mexican cuisine that are better than El Coral.
