Trip to Puerto Santo Tomas

Not really much to report here but the info is fresh! Crossed at Tecate...new system in that you park on the right but now have to cross the street and go back up towards U.S., cross back over and then get your Visa etc...then come back the old way where there is a gate and a scanner system but for most of us you'll just get waved through as you are not carrying anything.

Some roadwork south out of town but nothing serious. No military checkpoints in Guadalupe Valley and the old/new one at Maneadero is still not working.

Great fishing for Bonito, Sheephead, Rockfish, Ling Cod and the like at Puerto Santo Tomas...water is warmer than any time since the last El Nino in late 90's. The bite was still ridiculous when the winds finally pushed us off the water. Sam as usual was a great host and all the pricing beyond reasonable.

Crossed back at Tecate on Wednesday with very little wait but do NOT tell anyone!!!

What do you think the scanner is for?

I'm not really following this - could you explain - thanks for the report!

Glad to hear the place is doing well. A really beautiful little place. Thanks for the report.

Hmmmm...I am just reporting what I saw and maybe others can chime in. After getting your Visa you come back towards Mexico like every other time but now there is a gate you go through and then a room with a military guy and a scanner the type you see in airports...I had nothing on me so nothing to run through it and he waved me on.

I crossed at Tecate a couple weeks ago, and got the green light. It was actually eerie how little attention I got. Nobody looked at me, nobody talked to me, it's as if nobody cared i was there. I didn't stop at the office there (didn't know I was supposed to!), and instead got my passport and FMM stamped at Ensenada. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

And as for Punta Santo Tomas, WOW! I camped out there last week and loved it so much that I stayed for several nights. Check out the photo - that's my truck parked way out on the point! I don't fish, but can report that I bought some very fresh fish off of some local fisherman!
