Loved Ken's pictures of the east side canyons of our local desert, so decided to share some from the Sierra on the same weekend. Did a solo hike up
Rock Creek Canyon to Morgan Pass on Friday and then joined some friends to do Bishop Pass from South Lake on Saturday.
Base camp at mobile 6 on BLM land under Mt Tom
Looking up Rock Creek Canyon, Morgan Pass on left
Close to Morgan Pass
Bubbles under ice almost back to trail head
Morgan Pass stats
Next day, hiking past South Lake in drought year
Beautiful ice beach close to the pass
We were the only group that made it to the pass Saturday
Rob and Liz, background is Le Conte Canyon
Rob is a better photographer than I am
Bishop Pass stats, mileage is more like 12 miles. Great Hike!

WOW ... that is some hike ... at this time of year
Thanks much, been more that a few years since going over Bishop Pass
In the last shot I see a "bear foot" .... you guys are really tough hikers to do it that way ...
Hope we get more "snow" ... looking pretty light

Thanks for posting John. That's a beautiful hike. We did Bishop's pass one October, remember it being a bit cold up top. We took bags though, and
spent a couple of days.
Like the description "ice beach", not heard that before.

Thanks for your kind comments. I always learn something on these trips. This time it was no matter how light the snow, bring gaiters and some kind of
traction goodies like microspikes.
