Getting really anoyed with People from two borders noth

jakethedog - 11-19-2014 at 06:28 PM

Trying to bite my lip, but today I just want to scream. Why is it all Cana...Ains. are so right...all the time?
They have all showed up here,it seems all in a herd, and start telling everybody how it is supposed to be. And how they are the chosen people...Really? " I really wish the (16 y/o preanent girl at the teinda) would learn a little english. " Would you please do......this for me as I don't have the money". " I wish the delagado would grade the road to "MY" house."

What is it with those folks? All is good, them they show up!!!

Sorry for the rant. Remember Micah (know it all ) during Odeile? They know all. Just sayin' and an observation from here on the front.

Ateo - 11-19-2014 at 06:55 PM

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Humor post of the week.

Ricardo - 11-19-2014 at 07:03 PM

Just get out of the other side of the bed tomorrow and everything will be OK

jakethedog - 11-19-2014 at 07:11 PM

I know not many people here will express their true fellings...which speaks volumns. We all know a Can.....ian who is alright. Im talking about he masses. Most who read this know what I am saying, but are a little afraid of " coming out" and stating what they truly feel. You know how they are!

I just hope some read this and try and change the way they present themselves as it inpacts us all...as gringos.. They do not like the way "we ( Canad..ns) treat them.

I am a Canook!!! Stop being dicks!

AKgringo - 11-19-2014 at 07:12 PM

I will have to agree that there have been a lot of Canadians through the camp I am staying in over the last month, but my impression of my neighbors is 180 degrees from yours. But then again, I am an Alaskan, the other chosen ones!

KaceyJ - 11-19-2014 at 07:22 PM

Now that you mention it, I have noticed the Mexicans slapping their elbows a little harder these days

I don't think rudeness is border specific, you're just seeing a concentration of it due to the snowbirds arriving

Ateo - 11-19-2014 at 07:24 PM

I love Canadians. Just making that statement. =)

I love Americans too!

I love Mexicans too!

I'm not on ecstasy, but I may have been sometime in the early 90's, while in Baja, by the way. THAT was an experience I will never forget.

Gulliver - 11-19-2014 at 07:25 PM

The real problem is crotchety old Americans. Like me.

Yeah, but that's not the BEST Canadian joke.

Someone tell the one about the Russian, the Cuban, the Canadian and the Mexican going marlin fishing.

Or, the one about the bar selling drinks for 10 cents.

Ya heard about the older nurse who came out of the young accident victim's room and told the young nurse that the guy in traction was tattooed on his private parts and it said 'Swan'.

The younger gal went in to see for herself and came back with a smile and a correction. "He's tattooed "Saskatchewan".

Seems there are Canadians....then again, there are Canadians. Just like in the US and Mexico, different cultural traits in the same bag.
That said.....the Montreal snowbird variety has earned a reputation for themselves in Mexico for being as trashy as a people can get.
I can't argue that sentiment as I have seen the trail they leave when playing "miss the trash can" in Puerto Vallarta, as well as summering in New England.
Freakin' shameful.

For me, just replace Canadian with CALIFORNIAN. They all seem to have the right answer and know everything that needs to be known.

Saying "everyone" everything - just doesn't serve a good purpose.

Don't take all this too seriously.

I'm thinkin' it's a snowbird phenomena....when you come in from someplace else, the problems and remedies just seem so easily pointed out to those who live in the quagmire routinely.

Not winning a recent Stanley Cup probably magnifies that x10......

Pompano - 1-15-2015 at 04:03 PM

Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God went missing for six days.

Eventually, Michael the archangel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God, "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Michael, look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put LIFE on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a place of great balance." "Balance?" inquired Michael, still confused. God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth, "For example, Northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while Southern Europe is going to be poor; the Middle East over there will be a hot spot. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people," God continued, pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by Gods work, then pointed to a large landmass in the top corner and asked, "What's that one?" "Ah," said God. "That's Canada, the most glorious place on Earth. There are beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers, streams and an exquisite coastline. The people from Canada are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they're going to be found travelling the world. They'll be extremely sociable, hard working and high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace. I'm also going to give them super-human, undefeatable ice hockey players who will be admired and feared by all who come across them."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed; "What about balance, God? You said there will be BALANCE!" God replied wisely. "Wait until you see the loud-mouth bastards I'm putting next to them...."

vgabndo - 1-15-2015 at 06:18 PM

I can't resist re-telling the story of the Canadian couple from Quebec who stayed at Campo Sirena. They spoke perfect English but insisted on pestering me with crappy Spanish because I didn't speak French! She sealed the deal by coming to me in the dark with a sand encrusted bag of Boca Dulces expecting me to fillet them for her. I found out later that they hadn't caught them, but had asked for and received them from a Mexican guy who was fishing for his family. (yes I cleaned them for her, yes she tipped me 50 pesos, and hell yes I took it!)
That experience was a major exception to commonly well mannered folks.

Pomp, that is so true and well said. I have let the topic go for a while and it appears most responces agree "they have a entitled, smarter than thou loud mouth attitude" ( same can be from texas, just go skiing in Colorado).
Recent update: 4 Canooks sitting at the local sports bar watching the Seattle game and using their FREE internet, buy a beer a peice and watch 2 games. When the college kid serves them beer and gives them their 2 pesos change, they all wait until the kid turns his back , and then pull the 2 PESOS back, all four. They nursed the beer for 2 complete games. Bought no food and left no tip. Do the math on what it costs the bar to support their sports and internet habit!

Next, Friend near me rents his home to a "couple" from Vancouver. Shows up a few day later to check on them and there are 5 people ( canadians) in his house. WTF. Nice guy that he is says thats fine just pay for an extra "pila" of water. No problem..Two days before they, 5< of them left, they decided to take his small beach launch boat out for a spin. Thrached it on the beach in a wave, broke the boat and ruined the motor. Very concerned, my neighbor tells them they must leave the next day as that is theft and cops will be called if they are not gone by 12pm. At 11:30 am he finds his Suburban broken down on the road out of fuel...They had found keys and used it to move. House thrashed, washer broken, boat ruined.
He did track them down and all they said was " sorry dude you can keep our $200 deposit. Cops thought different..Hope they enjoy the cold in Canada as they may not return.

My personal neighbors, really nice Canadians whom are embarresed by their compadres, have removed their plates from their local car so they will not be labeled....says volumes.

Here's what I don't get - they have a hockey team called the "Canadians". That's just nutz. I mean, the folks in Northern Alberta must chaff a bit, aren't their Oilers Canadians as well? No American professional sports team would call themselves the 'Americans'. (Well, maybe Dallas would but they're an outlier anyway).

OK - I'm Canadian, so I'll try an esplain.

First of all, let me break stereotypes and say I detest hockey. Right up there with Candy Crush Saga, and I've never played either.

The team you refer to is the Montreal Canadiens. They are in Quebec. Every once in awhile Quebec needs a hockey stick upside the head to remind them that they are Canadians. Or as they put it - Canadiens. With ESL they can be difficult to communicate with sometimes. Of course, they come down to Baja and start conjugating Spanish verbs with the ease of Italians.

Dear "jakethedog"

It just so happens that we know that Jake the dog (in real life) has an owner who we had a bad experience with. We know exactly who you are. What a colossal load of crap your posts are. First lie, right off the hop, its your rental not a neighbours or a friends. Why don't you just come out and say all this happened to you and that these are your own "experiences". Hmm, could it be perhaps that you're embarrassed by the lies you are spreading? You are the homeowner and i am one of the Canadians who stayed at your home. I witnessed first hand what actually happened, and unlike you i'm a rational person and so i will speak objectively here.

Normally i wouldn't succumb to arguing with trolls in a forum, but after several friends forwarded this to me i really felt like i needed to defend myself, my friends, and (oh boy) my country, from your lies. You charged us $3400 for 13 days, not small change by any means, for a home that was worth not even half that rate. Upon arrival the house was in a state of squalor. Hours spent washing dirty dishes (the dishwasher was full), towels, and removing dead bugs in the fridge. Behind the sink taps were all brown with crud. There was dog hair everywhere (Jakes), and the sheets had clearly been slept in. You blamed US for the burnt out washer? We should never had had to wash it to begin with, but the comforter you had on the bed was covered in dog hair and smelled like old man. We used it for a normal load just before we left and it worked fine. All of this was completely unnacceptable for paying guests to deal with. What does a cleaner cost down there anyways maybe $40? Should i mention the little "surprise" that was waiting for us in the 2nd bedroom? A rotting dead mouse that made the house smell disgusting.

You claim we stole and then ruined your boat... do you actually believe your own lies now? It's one thing to be disgruntled, but to be so upset over things that your making up? Heres the truth, objective in its entirety. You were kind enough to give access to your "toys" which by the way, your boat is listed in the ad for guest use. See for yourself.
www.vrbo.com/579104
Theft and cops, telling us we had to leave? What are you talking about? none of that happened. Ultimately, there were no paddle boards for our use as advertised in your listing. So, yes we did take the boat out for a morning of fishing after you repeatedly encouraged it. After using the boat it was returned to the exact same spot, using the exact same runners in the sand, with the gas and rods neatly put away where YOU TOLD US to put them. It was high tide that night, and combined with the windiest conditions seen that month the boat was sent down the beach. What you fail to mention is that this accident could have just as easily happened to you. Why don't you point out that the "awful Canadians" spent a day combing the beach and collecting what was lost, as well as fixing broked rivets and hauling the motor up to the house. The boat itself was fine and they gave you $200 to help fix the motor (at the time the local shop said it would be $300 to fix) you guys even shook hands on the amount before we left. Why didn't you speak up then? No, you would prefer to vent in forums and lie online like a coward

This is the part of your story that is truly laughable. Implying that we stole your truck, ran it out of fuel, thrashed your house, broke your washer? you were nice enough to offer your suburban to us for a couple days (we did not ask- he offered. We had a friend arriving with a rental car) The truck refused to start when he initially tried it. He complained that he just paid a guy to fix it and it shouldn't be giving him trouble. We popped the hood and i found a little air leak in the fuel line. We fixed the line, then i helped him purge the air bubbles out (after like an hour) we finally get it running. We were grateful and we put diesel in the tank.

When the couple staying in the second bedroom began to complain about a smell we told them about the mouse (we were too embarrassed to tell them) but it turned out there was a bigger problem. A couple days later it still stunk. We figured out the smell was coming from the extra mattress propped up in the corner. We flipped it over and a couple dead mice (and live ones) fell out along with a nest with mice feces. Our 5th guest was unable to join us and had to stay elsewhere "2 bedroom, sleeps 6..." as per your ad, however, the house sleeps 4, unless you count the mice infested mattress. And where would he sleep with the mattress? in the living room? He paid $900 as his share and never stayed at all. It was easier for our other friends to fit him in their place. You always knew there was at least 4 coming by the way, and what does it matter we rented the WHOLE HOUSE and its suppose to sleep 6!!! If it wasn't for the boat motor we would be asking for money back.

-Those four Canucks you are referring to are my friends from Canada staying in a seperate residence. The "college kid" bartender we all know by name and frequently hang out with here in La Ventana. We have been to his place, checked out his dune buggy, partied with him on new years..... yada yada. The beer here is very cheap compared to home - i find it hard to believe that they would not tip especially that specific bartender. "they nursed the beer for 2 complete games" NOW I KNOW that you are lying LOL. You think we dont have a tv at our place? get with the times man. Too bad forums can be seen world wide.

your "neighbours... removed their (licence) plates so they would not be labelled..." Why do i highly doubt that... especially how everything you said before that was complete lies. If they did, its likely because they believed the garbage that was coming out of your mouth.

Is this thread really about singling out Canadians? Canadians and americans are neighbours. People from Oregon and British Columbia have more in common then people from Oregon and say Florida.

Personally, I hate ignorant people. People who lie and are prejudice, and slander others for their own personal satisfaction. You, sir, are just an ethnocentric bully, an old man with too much time on his hands.

Yep, I know what you mean

I have several of those Northern Light Folks move in next door to us.

We invited them over for a few get togethers, but they have get togethers and only invite other Canuks.

Tired of their attitudes.

Cortez,
Maybe they got tired of your attitude?

Give them another chance if you might....most of us are sensible, considerate, reasonable and friendly folks....most of the time.

But, you know how some people are, eh .:D:cool:

Each country has their own derlicks. It just seams Canada's all show up here.

Can't wait until Easter!!!

I never thought this thread would make it to four pages, but now I think I need to bump it one more time.
Since 1980 I have made eight road trips through the Yukon and British Columbia, and six more to Baja and Mainland Mexico. I have met a hell of a lot of Canadians on those trips and have not yet met one that I had a problem with!
Looking forward to meeting a lot more, because that means I am on the road again. I will even be polite to you Jake, hope you do the same.

joerover - 1-21-2015 at 09:49 PM

you can ride your bicycle in Canada. The canadians get all 4 tires across the center line, and give plenty of space.

dont make a whole thread
Just because of that justin b finkelstien what was his name kid. that is only one strike

maybe the people of the great white north are intolerant of your disrespectful driveing, they have higher standards up there

Is there a 'reviews' section where you found the rental?

...not that I'm suggesting anything ;D:biggrin:

Lobsterman - 1-22-2015 at 04:41 AM

Jakethedog,

What sez you? Are the allegations above true. Without comment back (hiding behind a keyboard) your credibility is shot and you have been marginalized internationally.

I go with reporting this to Trip Advisor if not redacted or proved false. I always read TA before I stay at lodging on my many travels for work and pleasure (+20 hotels & resorts a year). I'm in Shreveport, LA at the moment and staying at a great and reasonably priced hotel ($57/day 2-rm suite with full kitchen, great breakfast, 5 miles from work, close to Louisiana Audubon Trail Golf Courses) I found after reading TA on the lodging in the immediate area. You will be doing people like me a BIG FAVOR by cut and pasting what you have already written onto TA. TA allows one to comment back on the comments.

I'll be looking for a write up in the future on TA for Jake's rental.

Not a bad idea....as many of us consider TA as helpful, but sometimes "trolled".. If a TA post is offered, they review it before posting....and editing step of sorts. Rather than repost directly as suggested....take some of the steam out of the comments but keep the salient points so the review makes it "on air". There is enough meat on that bone without the salsa... :light:

Nattering North-Country Nimrods

MrBillM - 1-22-2015 at 12:19 PM

Perhaps the most irritating characteristic (of many) exhibited by the Canuckials is their tendency to offer gratuitous remarks regarding the behavior of Americans (while IN the U.S.) prefaced with "in MY country................"

Of many examples, I remember once staying at a motel in Hemet. Walking out to the pool with a Heineken, Cigar and Newspaper, after taking a swim I sat down (alone) at one table, popped the cap, lit up and started reading.

A middle-aged lady got up from her lounge, walked over and told me that "Back home in Canada, YOU couldn't do THAT" pointing to the Cigar.

Without knowing (or caring) if that was the case, I said "One of the Biggest problems I know of in THIS country is people coming here from YOUR country and expressing unwanted opinions".

At which point she stalked off to the office.

Talking to the manager later, he said (laughing) "Man, you REALLY peesed that lady off".

"Yeah, I know".

"T-S".

I guess those canadiand did a good job cleaning the place up from old man smell and mouse infestation.....the place is solidly booked at $200 a night (?)

Review written

Bajafogger - 1-22-2015 at 03:06 PM

No i dont think its been solidly booked... past days are shaded dark in the booking calendar whether or not it was rented. It does appear to be booked in february for a week though. We just finished writing a review to vrbo. They are reviewing it and it will be posted within 7 business days. We wrote about the key things for people who may want to rent in the future.

Business is not made by word of mouth anymore. A poor review can be very costly these days as literally thousands will read it before renting your property.

I dont get it man, we shook hands at the end. Still shaking my head.

That's what bad reviewers always hope for, that they could cost a renter money by giving them a bad review, which is sometimes justified, and sometimes not justified.

The fact is while there are honest reviews on travel boards, there are also fake reviews, that go both ways, that give an overly positive review of a place, and an overly negative review of a place.

People sometimes have an agenda, for many reasons, some legitimate reasons, and sometimes, some of these people have an ax to grind, and make overly negative reviews, because they have a personal issue with the owner or manager of a place like a hotel for cabin. Owners, or managers of certain places like hotels, often place bogus positive reviews.

I don't know who's story is true, Jakethedog, or newbie, Bajafogger, who's sole purpose is to come to this forum, to bash Jakethedog.

The rule of thumb I notice on "Baja Nomad" is always side with the gringo, against the Mexicans, but in this case, both are gringos, and new to "Baja Nomad."

I suspect the truth of what really happens falls somewhere in the middle here.

I wouldn't want to rent from Jakethedog, nor would I want Bajafogger, renting from me, if I owned a rental in Baja. And anything I read on the travel boards, I would take with a grain of salt, because so many people, just make up things on those travel boards.

Perhaps worth noting is that the Montreal Canadiens represent the FRENCH who DO consider themselves the only important part of Canada and are, therefore, justified in claiming supremacy of Nanookia.
