Fishing

Is it the case that you only need a fishing license if you fish from a boat?

In other words do I need a license to fish from shore?

If I can fish from shore (or wade out) What might I catch in July off Bahia De Los Angeles?

Is a kayak a boat?

No license necessary fishing from shore.

Catches from shore could be Bass, Jack Crevalle, Pufferfish (poisonous), Halibut, Hogfish, and some others.

a kayak is not shore fishing, right?

No hog fish n sea of Cortez, maybe referring to sheephead. Grunts and small snapper around and some triggers. Halibit will be gone the water will be too warm. Fish at high tide with bait or throw crocs .yes you need a lic to fish from a yak

I'm no fishing expert, but these are the fish I caught most commonly from shore between BOLA and La Paz, and all my books call them "hogfish."

Mexican Hogfish

Always referred those as a cortez sheephead, see califorina sheephead and a pic of Florida hogfish. All are from the wrass family .

Depending where in the bay you fish, you could also get smaller yellowtail, dorado, roosters and baracuda from the shore.

We had way too much fun with the toro from the shore this past summer. Too bad they would get almost to Robert's house and make a u turn!

I also had the license question about my paddle board. Technically if my feet were off the sand I guess I'd need one. I didn't have it on board with me.

This little guy wasn't too far off the shore, and was just perfect for two dinners.

It doesn't hurt to get a license anyway, you never know when an offer for a boat trip might come up.

Definitely Hogfish in the Sea of Cortez along with Sheephead. License is needed for Kayak. VERY hot and humid...report on here a few months ago about a Dorado from shore at La Gringa.

Twin tailed Scampi on the hogfish? Would the need for
a license on anything that floats extend to a standup
paddle board? I would think technically so

Yep, here's another shot that shows the bait. These fish are so pretty that I always release them!

Another hogfish that doesn't exist in the Sea of Cortez. Hey Steve, this is on your Invader that I used to own a decade or so ago. Caught this one with a Krocodile.

The reason they did a U-turn is because they fear me.
