Pay CFE Online with a US Credit Card

CortezBlue - 12-2-2014 at 09:59 PM

I have successfully registered my account on the CFE web site. However, I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to add a credit card to pay my bill

It appears that the only way to use a credit card is if you have a pay as you go box at your house.

Has anyone setup their account to pay with a US credit card?

I couldn't figure it out either. But, we are allowed to pay a deposit at our office. Each visit down we put some money down and the bill is deducted from our balance.

I may do that next time.

I am paying 50 pesos a month to a lady that does it for our campo.

That is better than 10 percent of my bill

I can't even get it to work with a MX debit card, much less a USA card

What office do you pay at? Do you have a CFE office in town?

We have done this for several years.. Works very well... but.. just a side note that we discovered...
When you do the deposit for credit they ding you for the 16% IVA and then when the bi-monthly bill comes out there is again a ding for 16% IVA ...
Not a big deal but just an interesting quirk...
Usually my mind thinks,, only in Mexico..

Yes, there is a CFE office in town. Really nice people, too.

Thanks Zac. I pay at the telephone/telegrafs office here and they thought I was crazy wanting to pay more than what the bill was for.

With the peso at a low I decided to buy a bunch of pesos from Wells Fargo and pay 4000 pesos to CFE. That will keep me in the juice for a while

We stayed in the states for a couple of months upon returning home to Baja our lights had ben Turned off We had to go to the local C.F.E. office. While there I explained my frustration about trying to set up a on line payment plan using my U.S. Credit Card. Long story Short. Cant be Done, you have to set up a Peso account and pay out of that when you pay online. :fire::fire:

Cortez.................

Completed the install on our solar grid-tie yesterday. Today we generated 5.50KWH, it was fun watching the meter spin backwards

Cool

What do you think your ROI will be?

bajaguy - 1-18-2015 at 09:24 AM

5 years +/-, maybe sooner since it builds credits when we are NOB.

Should end up with $0 CFE bills (except for connection fee). Will be generating more during the summer and banking credits

What is procedure with CFE when you install solar system Thanks Cliff

bajaguy - 1-18-2015 at 10:53 AM

Meetings, approvals and contracts, they inspect your install then install a reverse digital meter.

Our contractor (electrosolar in Ensenada) took care of all the details with CFE. Highly recommended

solar power for us has been awesome.

msteve1014 - 1-19-2015 at 10:16 AM

I find it much simpler to give my neighbor 1000 pesos before I leave, and some tri tips or pork lions when I return. Water and electricity both taken care of.:D

So, how was the price of the panels in Mexico instead of buying in the USA, getting 30% rebate, and then hauling them down to MX?

I've come to the conclusion that paying CFE is either through paying at the normal locations or setting up a local banking system.

However with Pesos at the rate they are currently, I drove down to the CFE office and pre paid. I also think when I am in the states next time I am going to buy more pesos than I normally keep on hand, to take advantage of the difference.

Cortez Blue- I believe you will have a problem getting solar serviced here if you do not purchase your solar from sellers here, I know at lest one of them that flat out says if you don't buy it from me I will not service it for you.
