Motels between Catavina and GN?

Mula - 12-21-2014 at 03:26 PM

Got a neighbor not wanting to stop in GN for the night and is wondering if there are any motels - that would accept a dog - between GN and Catavina.

Particularly Villa Jesus Maria and Rosarito? Before the turn off to Coco's Corner?

Bahia de Los Angeles but it's a good bit off the main hwy.

How about that small hotel in Santa Rosalillita? Only a few minutes off the highway. Ask Shari as I think her husband is related to the people that run it? Good luck.

I have stayed at the little hotel in Santa Rosalillita. Can't remember the name of the place, but there is only one there. Simple but clean and cheap, and they serve great food!

O.K., great thanks.

The hotel in SR is nice. we have stayed there a cople of times. There is a Hotel in Rosarito, we have not stayed there.

Can't blame them for not wanting to stay in Guerrero Negro, but what about the Halfway Inn on the highway. The other former La Pinta's accept pets --- maybe call?

This guy just wants to get as close to the turn off for San Felipe/Mexicalli as he can.

His girlfriend likes the Half Way Inn at GN.

One thing I can't understand, is what Rosarito has to do with GN-Catavina area. Unless there is some other "Rosarito" there of course.

Yes, it is a different one south of the turn off to BOLA.

Nuevo Rosarito at KM52 south of the Santa Rosalillita turn off. It is the south turnoff for Mission San Borja. Some maps show it as just Rosarito. There are two motels there. One south of the arroyo crossing around the turn and one just north of the crossing. Have not stayed at either. The motel at Santa Rosalillita is a pink building easy to spot.

I have stayed at the motel next to Mauricio's Rest. in Nuevo Rosarito. Good clean room and comfy bed with the benefit of having one of my favorite eating places next door.

Yes. Nuevo. Mexico is rather bureaucratic, old European style. It would be odd to have two "rosaritos" within the same estado.

David K - 12-21-2014 at 09:20 PM

There are many Rosaritos, but the one that has become a city, 20 miles out of Tijuana is officially Playas de Rosarito (Rosarito Beach).

The other Rosarito being discussed here, and sometimes with the new name (Nueva) added was a collection of ranch homes that made up a village in the 1960's.

See it here on this close up 1962 Baja map, and to the south is Jesus Maria (a ranch) that also grew into a village and became Villa Jesus Maria.

Hotel Maru in Sta.Rosalillita is a good place to stop as it is only 15 minutes off the highway on a great road...it is at the end of the village beside the store. Bring food with you as there is nowhere to eat there. Juan is not related to the hotel folks but does have family in the village.

Newer hotel in Rosarito... next to very good restaurant Mauricio. right on hwy, and very clean. 35 bucs 2 twin beds. 60 miles north of Guerrero Negro turn off, make san felipe for lunch next day

Mula - 12-23-2014 at 06:02 AM

Has anyone got a name or a phone number of the Hotel/Motel in Rosarito (Nuevo)?

That's the one I referred to in my post above.

I think it is the "Cactus" but not absolutely certain. Can't miss it since it adjoins Mauricio's right on the highway. No idea about phone, never saw one in Mauricio's.

TMW - 12-23-2014 at 11:23 AM

Here is a Google Earth view of where the Motels are. Motel 1 is a green or blue/green set of buildings. Motel 2 you can't miss as it says it's a motel.

Great - thanks.
