Bajaboy - 12-22-2014 at 06:57 PM

Hi All,

Truck is a packed and we're crossing at o'dark-thirty. I have some pesos from last trip that I would like to use but forgot the current price of FMM.

Anyone know the current price in pesos?

Thanks!

306 Peso's at the bank, or 25 USD to the IMN official. This was in November. I think it is a good idea to get a receipt, but that is just me.

I'm guessing you're referring to a 6 month tourist visa. I hope so because it's at the crossing but the temp or perm is at the Immigration office (SY crossing) which is closed for 2 weeks.

I would plan on spending more than 300 MXN if it's pegged to 25 USD. The FMM price has risen from 295 in 2013 to over 300 in November. And with recent rapid fall of the peso you might be spending closer to 365. I don't know this for sure, but I would be prepared.

PS - when you come back, could you let us know about the current cost. I'm going in Jan and will be buying at the TJ airport.

Thanks Zac.

FMM is commonly know as either the "Tourist Card" or "Tourist Visa".

It is good for up to 180 days in Mexico and is a single use permit. You are required to turn it in to Mexican Immigration when you leave the country (that is another story - and another can of worms).

It is obtained from Mexican Immigration (INM) officials at the border when you enter Mexico.

The FMM is your proof of legal status when you are in Mexico as a tourist.

I will now sit back and wait for the inevitable contradictions, accusations and misrepresentations to begin.

Oh, Canadian hey, welcome to Nomads, or as another Canadian on the board calls it, The Sandbox.....maybe it should be the litterbox

Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day
