Has anyone been able to use Direct TV in the Loreto or Mulege area in the last few years? If so how big a dish is necessary?Loretana - 1-4-2015 at 09:38 AM
I tried using a 39" oval dish for DirecTV a few years back, and it was a waste of time....The local Loreto installer at the time told me I needed at
least a 60" dish to get any reception....and that there would be no reception at certain times of day, in regards to the "satellite footprint"

I use a Monsoon Vulkano on my stateside DirecTV receiver and watch my subscription on the internet when I'm in Loreto.....it works quite well....larryC - 1-4-2015 at 09:40 AM
Not sure what is necessary, but if you find out that a 1.8 meter dish will work for you, I have one you can have. You just have to pick it up in BoLA.

It's not the most recent info be we had a house in Alamos on the mainland about 15 years ago. Alamos is in between Mulege and Loreto latitude wise.

I got DirecTV in San Lucas (Sta. Rosalia) on a 1 meter dish, and have one you can have there. Got all channels except the 'local' ones (NBC, CBS, FOX,

we use a slingbox from the states and a wd box in mx. has worked very well for several years... all done thru the internet... which has also worked
very well for us..
others will disagree I am sure but we are very satisfied with ours.
don't know quality if you are using satellite internet... we get thru century link in the states and telmex in Mulege...

Years ago I was grandfathered in to getting the Directv east/west coast feeds of nbc, cbs, fox and abc(new York and L.A.). This was before spot
beaming and locals. Even though San diego now has locals I have kept paying the $15/month extra for the east/west coast feeds.
One of the benefits is getting to watch everything 3 hours earlier plus if I was ever to use it in Mexico I would get network television. Not that
that is a good thing ☺

If I have read correctly, direct tv in Cabo, Todos Santos does not work due to the location of the birds, is this still correct, would much prefer to

Hi - I just found this thread. We're going to be headed back to Cabo Pulmo next month, and would like to figure out a way to get some kind of TV.
This is the first that I've heard of slingbox and wd box. Sounds like these depend on having an internet connection? If so, what are you using for
internet connection? Last time we were in Pulmo we got a Banda Ancha stick, but that has limited speed, and gets expensive quickly.
We tried to get a mobile hotspot from Telcel in SJD last November, and in December. But both times they said there were no mobile hotspots in stock
in all of the Baja peninsula - there had been a run on the hotspots after Hurricane Odile, presumably because a lot of satellite dishes were trashed
by the hurricane. At the time, they had no idea when the would hotspots be back in stock, and only Telcel hotspots would work with Telcel service.
