Best dinner place in BdeLA

woody with a view - 1-5-2015 at 09:03 AM

I know of the usual places and have tried a few but I'm looking for suggestions for the best dinner in town for my Bday.

we're going to be in there Thur night to drop off stuff in camp and then head to the other side for some clams, lobster, Spotfin, a few waves and 4 or 5 beers!

Happy Birthday Woody!

Maybe on Mia's site are some choices... Here is what I know:
Usually eat at China's taco stand, but for indoor dining...
Las Hamacas, used to be great (2001-2003).
Guillermo's was nice (2006).
The food and soup was knockout at Costa del Sol (2009).
The last time (2012), the local Nomads said this was THE place to eat:

Alejandrina's is real good but we always go there so looking for something different.

There is a palapa restaurant-I forget the name- down by the old turtle conservation place. it's not open all the time and the menu is limited but it was very good.

If you are talking about the one near the Taco Bell house, it was destroyed in Odile and I am not sure if they reopened yet. We ha New Years Eve 2014 dinner there and it was good.

My fav is still China or La Hamacas.

woody with a view - 1-5-2015 at 11:35 AM

we like Hamacas also. I guess i'll sleep on it and decide at the last second!

Thanks.

Just shop around when you get there... Costa del Sol is small, but don't discount the quality that she put into her cooking there.

Thanks for the correct name... I edited my posts as I was calling it Casa del Sol above. Getting old sucks!

I need to drop a key a G-mo's for a Nomad so maybe that is the ticket?

BajaBreak - 1-5-2015 at 04:25 PM

Stayed at Guillermo's Thurs & Fri night with my gal, had at least one great meal there (late lunch I think). The taco place not too far across the main street was great for dinner too, but not open until later in the day...

We had a great dinner a G-mo's years ago and great margies too!! He let us park our camper right on the water there.

I've been to all of them and G=mo's is the best I think. It is under new ownership and it shows.

Another vote for Costa de Sol...especially if you are staying there!

Well Woody, you will just need to take a look at both perhaps. I think if a place rates well it has a lot to do with attitude. If you have good Baja attitude (as you do), then more places will be enjoyable. Have a good birthday meal where ever you go.

Best???

Grill some rib-eyes and shrimp on the beach, add a baked potato and some cold beer.....

woody with a view - 1-6-2015 at 12:12 PM

BG might be right! wind is supposed to lay down for the week so I could always fire up the Barbee.

Woody,
I am at Costa del Sol for the next three nights...I leave Friday morning.

If you have your B-day dinner here, I will make you a few killer Margs...

I will be riding until about 3:00 pm ....

That would seal the deal if it was me!:light::spingrin:

woody with a view - 1-6-2015 at 07:10 PM

but that would get me rolling into camp, DRUNK and kicking rocks trying to get the lights on and wouldn't be good. I'm leaning towards BBQ on the beach.
