This is a cactus I bought when we were at the San Miguel de Allende Botanical Garden. The flower lasts one day only and yesterday was chosen.
Notice the star in the middle.

We spent a week in SMA in November and enjoyed the cactus garden, it was not at all what I expected.
Love those occasional cactus blooms
Mom had one in Palm Springs, and it bloomed on rare occasions
We brought it up north and watered it more often and it blooms on a less regular but more frequent schedule- but always a one day event.
