What can I expect after my SENTRI appt?

Just wondering if I'll get the blessing after my appointment and vehicle inspection?

Or have to wait and find out?

You'll find out right then and there if you are approved. Vehicle inspection will take place there as well.

Yep, after your appointment and car inspection, you are cleared for Sentri!

When my wife and I were doing our Sentri interview, the lady who helped us looked through our passports and saw that we traveled to a lot of other countries other than Mexico. Because of this she enrolled us in the Global Entry Program, which helps you get through customs WAY faster in airports when returning to the U.S. from abroad. It was free to add on. It is great and I have used it more than I have used my Sentri card. It might be worth asking about....

You will be approved, then you have to wait 1 to 2 weeks for your card to arrive in the mail, and you have to go on line and activate it.

I don't think so. My experience is that when a person makes a plane reservation, DHS sees a person's identity and starts the screening. I have been granted trusted status on some flights and not on others. It has to do with connecting flights and things I don't know about. Anyway, the trusted status only allows the person to not remove his shoes, but uses the same cattle lines as everyone else.

It only gives DHS more information about the person not any free pass to the individual. I speeds the process for the Gestapo, not the citizen.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant the Global Entry program which is one of the Trusted Traveler programs. It sounds like you are talking about the TSA Pre-check program which is used also in the airports. For the TSA pre-check, you can use the PASS ID # on the back of your Sentri card. When you purchase airline tickets, you enter that number which in turn when you print out your ticket, it will have a TSA Pre-check symbol printed on it.

The Global Entry is great though; as Pacifico said, if you are returning from another country you bypass the immigration lines and just use a machine which reads your passport and your fingerprints, then spits out a ticket which you take to a different line at customs too. Anyone who has landed at LAX with a lot of other jumbo jets from Asia arriving at the same time knows how long it can take to get through immigration & customs!

Make sure your vehicle is inspection ready. That means no tinted windows and it must have the front license plate or your vehicle will not pass.

Thanks for that info. Peeled the tint off last light, that was fun.

Got the SENTRI, no problem. Also Global entry.

That was easy.
