casa de cambio Loreto

Flying into Loreto next week. I need to exchange a few thousand dollars. My Los Angeles currency exchange today , 1/14/2015 was 13.81 or a bit better if I barter. Is the rate any better in Loreto and are they able to handle this amount ?

To my knowledge there is no casa de cambios in Loreto or at the airport. I have never needed one so maybe someone else will chime in about one but I don't think so.

Also, who knows what todays rules are for a person with no bank account trying to exchange greenbacks for pesos but I would say they would not. By the way, we are back to a one bank town with long lines.

My suggestion is that if you can take the greenbacks, deposit them into a bank in the states and use an ATM card down here that would give you the best exchange rate and that would be the way to do it. If for whatever reason you cannot do that, just do you best exchange where you are and enjoy your trip and not worry about it.
