Bus from Guerrero Negro to Cabo San Lucas

matthewgraham70 - 1-20-2015 at 01:23 PM

Hello,

I am starting to go batty in my search to figure out how to book two bus tickets from Guerrero Negro to Cabo San Lucas in February. I have finally found a website that shows times and departure/arrivals and it looks like I only have one option as far as what company for the day I want to travel. I am trying to book my ticket for February 23rd but have been unable to find someone at abc bus that speaks english or a travel agent that can help me. If anyone can help me out I would be so appreciative.

Thank you for your help!

Rats!!!
Tried to help out, but I cannot get any kind of log-on with ABC to BCS

We booked the first class bus from Mexico DF to San Luis de Allende a few months back and it was a piece of cake doing it from here in Alta Cfa, but hitting the wall on your request.

The only problem I had was that none of my credit cards would be accepted until I called the card issuing bank and alerted them that we were headed South, then it was on automatic, printed out the tix and everything

Keep trying
or there has to be a Nomad out there that can resolve this!!??

I live in GN and that thing youre trying to do its just not going to work.

Usually they sell the tickets only when the bus from north/south its coming into the bus station.

They do that because sometimes the buses dont bother stopping in GN due to being already late on their schedule, or the driver just dont feel like it (true story).

The good news its that usually theres plenty of seats available and you will find a place.

If you want i can take note of the fares and time of departures and post it here.

NOTE: late in february we are just hitting season peak on whale watching, meaning hotels are mostly non vacant. Its harder to get a room than a ride to Cabo.

Hi Archie,

Thank you so much! If you wouldn't mind telling me what the bus schedule is for Monday and when it's likely to arrive in Cabo, February 23rd that would be fantastic! Thank you!

I agree with Archie...I have tried and tried to figure out the bus thing and I am very very patient and determined but it is just a NO GO...the ONLY way to do it is to show up at the TJ bus terminal early early in the morning and buy your ticket and go...never trust a posted schedule on the internet as they change like the wind. I always hear...but the schedule says..... Bring a book and be prepared to wait...and wait. Good thing is that the TJ bus terminal is a fascinating place to people watch and has restaurants, a bar, stores etc. I usually wait in the nice Greyhound lounge.

Taking the bus can be great but is not for the "stick to the schedule" type of folks...it's a crap shoot. You can luck out on a wonderful modern bus with wifi, reclining seats etc. or a beater that smells like pee!

It is also very expensive...it is about the same price or less just to fly from TJ.

Would Vizcaino work. They seem to always stop there

How are you getting to Guerrero? By plane? I hope someone is there to pick you up. The airstrip is remote and NO services.

If you want, I can make reservations for you. Send me names of passengers, i will find out times and cost, do you prefer am or pm?

I am driving down from Rosarito with my parents and then taking the bus from Guerrero Negro to Cabo San Lucas to catch a flight to Puerto Vallarta. I am fine with anytime as long as I leave after whale watching on the morning of the 22nd of February and arrive before 4 am on the 24th.

well that's easy then....just go to the bus depot in GN and find out when the bus leaves in the afternoons...you can take the night bus which leaves sometime around dusk and gets into Cabo in the morning of the 23rd.

Shari is absolutely right on
Dude, this is Baja, not the land of instant answers.
Relax, hang out, be cool,
it will all happen in its own time frame,
and most important
enjoy the experience, that is why we go

Why are Baja buses so expensive?

I've heard that also from hitchhikers who are frustrated with the cost of a bus. Why is it so expensive to ride the bus in Baja? or is that true elsewhere in MX also?

Damn,,as a old timer around here SHARI is kicking me....LOL,.....Go to the Bus station the day before if ya can and get your ticket..the buses in Baja are rather impressive and are a good way to ship parts or people...Did I SAy they boogy & haw HHASS...LOL that got in..this new system on proof reading is nuts !!!

BajaBlanca - 1-22-2015 at 08:49 PM

I called today and they will not take reservations

I suggested wiring me the money, I would have the ticket bought (since G Negro is 3 hours away) and the gentleman at the bus depot said he would hold the tickets for them

being that Matthew doesn't know me from Adam, I would be hesitant to send the moola as well ....

however, this is not a really busy season and catching a bus will not be an issue

last bus headed south leaves at 9 pm
