The body of my reply would not show up.
When I hit reply the screen would say I needed to add a subject (never had to do this before for a reply to post). So I put the original post subject
in. Hitting send resulted in the subject appearing in the body (and bold not what I typed). The body was blank. Wanting to answer the post and trying
different things each time I made 3 more posts.
This was attempted on an older laptop this morning. Now I'm on a newer Win 7 machine with the latest Firefox browser. Still the same problem
attempting to reply to a post. (every thing is allowed also)BajaNomad - 1-23-2015 at 07:53 PM
Now I'm typing in the body and then hitting, "Preview Post" This is going to work since I see the text in the preview body. Hmmmmmmm, it appears
that I cannot paste anything into the body. On my previous try I wrote out a few lines in a plain text editor (note pad) and that would not be in the
body when I went to the previewdegoma - 1-23-2015 at 11:38 PM
The above post, "Read that thanks,Still won't let me post reply" was typed into the subject line and yet it appears in the body.
The first 2 lines above were typed in the text editor and appeared when I pasted them so it seems to be working now.
Pasted the reply I wanted to make (plain text) and it would disappear when I went to preview. In the preview window it said this: You have not
entered a subject and message. Please go back and do so. This even though, 'Subject' is optional. Hmmmmmmmm
In the preview body I tried again to paste my plain text message and it would not take it.
That's where this is at for me now...going to have to sleep on it I guess.shari - 1-24-2015 at 08:08 AM
this happened to me when I wrote a piece in Word and tried to cut and paste it in here...nada but snow. The problem was any and all punctuation like
commas, brackets, apostrophes etc so I had to eliminate everything but the periods...a royal pain. It is fine if you just type your message but cut
and paste sucks...from Word anyway.DENNIS - 1-24-2015 at 08:45 AM
If you want to post something lengthy, copy it before you hit the send key. That way, if there's a problem with unacceptable marks, all your typing
work won't be lost and you'll still have the post to work on and try again.
Patience is a virtue, folks. Let's try to be virtuous.Pompano - 1-24-2015 at 08:58 AM
Like Dennis and shari say, just copy your work first, then trial and error will win the day. I found out the old fashioned hunt-n-peck way. This
will soon pass.....of course, by then something else will jump out and surprise you.David K - 1-24-2015 at 09:00 AM
Degoma, in trying to keep updated and usable, the host here (Doug) used a different software (not perhaps the technically exact answer) and
unknowingly to him, it was very fussy about the text type used or allowing Spanish letters or accents. If you cut and paste from another source or
pre-type a post on Word or Note Pad, it may not show here, either.
The following may not apply to Degoma, but it is an issue that contributed to the reason for changing software at Baja Nomad:
One of the main issues for changing the software was the difficulty in posting photos here (for some). Even though most of us have been using a remote
photo hosting site (Photobucket.com) with relative ease, a few just don't get how to set the size max when they create an account there or think it
costs money or think it affects their original photos on their computers (it doesn't).
The Nomad (and most) forums size max is 800 pixels, but 640 pixels are also a nice large photo size. The standard upload size on Photobucket is 1,024,
so all anyone needs to do is click the small gear logo in the corner after clicking their UPLOAD button on the top of their album page, pick 800 or
640 and click save. Upload all photos you want to share on Internet forums, and then to share them, you simply copy and paste the IMG link that is
next to the photo in your Photobucket album.degoma - 1-24-2015 at 11:59 AM
Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. It's weird that's for sure. Learning to work around and pressing on.Bruce R Leech - 1-24-2015 at 02:55 PM
it is time to go back to the old software I think
Hola Nomads: This is my first time posting on Baja Nomads. I've been going to Baja since 1965. I am 77 years old. One of the few areas I haven't seen yet is the Pacific Coast between El Rosario and Santa Rosalillita. My brother plan on park
All will be good. I'll get to this when I can. Thank you all again for your understanding and patience.

I just tried a copy and paste of a snippet from an English article from another web page 3 times. Didn't work. No tildas, accent marks, etc. Just
plain old English. I systematically removed punctuation and found the apostrophe is one of the characters causing a problem. Probably more.
