Change in VA health benefit (Good. Don't freak)

For those who have been unable to get an appt. you can go outside now.

Signed by POTUS and congress. Lot's of legalese in mail today but basically eligibility for "choice card" (enclosed) benefits.

have to wait more than 30 days for appt?

current residence more than 40 miles from closest facility?

(let's see. depending on road, bikes, cows, staggers on white line from Cow Patty's or whatever it's called, detainment at checkpoint, detainment at Tecate checkpoint, detainment at checkpoint on 94 (72 hours. Told them to go... I just got checked at Tecate) divided by two, plus number of hours on 94 traffic to 5 times three just in case.... yeah, I qualify on that one.

"Do you need to travel by plane or boat to the VA medical facility closest to your home? (depends on Chubasco's and availability of Pacifico)

OR

Does a geographic challenge (like a curb after the Pacifico's? I get drunk on one beer. I'm not sure if it's the fifteenth or sixteenth though) such as extensive distances around water or other geologic formations (not since they moved 'Gotta Peso") such as mountains, present a significant travel hardship?"

"IF YOU ANSWERED YES TO ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO USE YOUR "CHOICE CARD"."

And then a bunch of Bow-Wow, Woof-Woof and call 866-606-8198 or if you are like one of the 4% who do not have access to or cannot hear anything in any one of the three working pay telephones left in your area but you can get in line at the library and beat the degenerates off the computer and "Visit WWW.VA.GOV/OPA/CHOICEACT/ FOR MORE INFORMATION.."

Looks like a pretty cool deal for some of us.

Good luck on using this "benefit" I have been trying for several months. I have my "Veterans choice" card....call that number and you are answered by a low bid contractor who so far knows nothing....Call the VA and they have no "procedures" yet....seems to be more smoke and mirrors legislation to lower the noise level on the VA problem

I am so frustrated with VA! I've been trying to get some appointments close together to shorten my stay and save a ton of $$ but they say I have to get pre-authorized by my primary and she won't respond to requests. So I figure I'll just get an appointment with my primary and go from there. Can't even get an appointment 3 weeks out. I think I'm going to Blue Shield for old folks when I get up there.

I ended up with a private service....This latest "benefit" just adds yet more time to the process...SUCKS
