last jan feb we went out to take a look at the beach around light house point where they are hawking proprety. coming down to the beach in the suv it
all looked nice. little palapa style umbrellas set up along the beach frontage, a nice view of the sea, just wide open space, not a soul around. We
decided to get out and take a walk around. we got about half a block distance toward the water and were getting hit by the wind blown sand. The
longer we were there the more uncomfortable it bacame with the sand hitting the ankles and calves. By the time we got back to the car we were glad to
be able to get inside and out of the sand blast affect it was having on our skin. I just can't imagine living there and being constantly pelted by
that sand during the winter months that most folks would be there. I guess that is why nothing much has been developed there yet. Any opinions of the
area anyone else cares to share? the marina area is a disaster, I wonder how long it will take before the sea takes it back and turns it into a

When there is no vegetation over two feet tall and all leaning the same direction may be a clue that it might be windy there.
That blowing sand is not only hard on the body but sand blasts everything in its path like paint and glass. The road there will destroy any vehicle

You just described the entire east cape during that time of year. Come on down in August so you can complain about the heat and humidity as well. We
get hurricanes and earthquakes too. Why anyone would live here is beyond me.
We built knowing the wind and direction at LHP. Lots of wind shaded areas outside facing south for the winter, same thing north facing for the summer
winds (yep, blows then too). Tall plantings for wind screens. If you build in an area and don't design for the local issues you have no reason to
complain.
In all seriousness, everywhere has it's own set of issues. If you are going to live somewhere take everything into account, add the pluses and minuses
and see if it's for you. For a lot of people the EC is not the spot. For me it's what you first mentioned - wide white sand beaches without a person

I did experiance the wind in los barilles but not the sand blast effect. I like all the areas east cape each for its own reasons. the estuary lagoon
in la ribera for the birds. santiago for it's pools, and organic fruits and veggies and waterfalls. settled in on los barilles for the avalibility of
