Is anything going on in Mulege for St.Patrick's Day? We had a wonderful meal there a couple years ago - same deal still on?Pompano - 3-11-2015 at 08:07 PM
Blanca, I can taste the Old Bushmills now. I can't speak for the Jungle cantina, but it would be first time in many years that there was no St.
Patrick's Day celebration there. It will probably happen...and may the saints be praised for it.
Aye, and was your mother born in Ireland then?woody with a view - 3-11-2015 at 08:20 PM

I have a wonderful friend here in Baja, Nueva Mexico that's Hispanic by origin, and married a man named McGarrie (that has since passed on). She
always jokes she's Irish "by injection".
And, being half-Greek and some Irish lineage meself, St. Paddy's is a confusin' holiday fer me. If y'er not wearin' the Kelly green I don't know
whether to pinch you on the arm.... or the buttocks.... BajaBlanca - 3-12-2015 at 01:50 PM

Spoke to Lupe at the Jungle last Monday. She said that Saul had corned beef for her so the annual dinner was on. No idea how much she's getting.
Who wudda thunk it?

How does Mexico celebrate St. Patrick's Day? This could be an important question for Irish travelers or those of Irish decent. It may seem strange to
think of a holiday like St. Patrick's Day being celebrated in Mexico, but the holiday falls in the midst of the highest tourist season, so visitors
are often curious about it. In addition, Mexico does have over 90,000 citizens who are ethnically Irish, many of whom immigrated to Mexico between
1830 and 1840.
1.The majority of the Irish in Mexico live in Mexico City and in Northern Mexico.
2. The celebration of St. Patrick's Day in Mexico is much more common in areas with higher populations of Mexicans of Irish decent, but because
tourist areas have so many international visitors it is common to see celebrations in any large tourist area.
3. St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17. This holiday takes place during the peak spring tourist season in Mexico's beach destinations.
4. Many tourist destinations have small celebrations to honor visitors and residents of Irish decent. This includes areas in the Mexican Caribbean,
Jalisco and Baja.
5. Celebrations include dancing, food and traditional drinks.
6. The celebrations take place in bars and restaurants and include signing, dancing, bagpipe performances and traditional foods such as corned beef
and cabbage.
7. In Mexico, St. Patrick is called St. Patricio. He is the patron saint of many Mexican towns, including areas in Jalisco. The locals celebrate St.
Patrick's Day with parades and carnivals.
8. St. Patrick's Day also celebrates the St. Patrick Battalion's contributions to Mexico. This battalion fought as a part of the Mexican army in the
Mexican-American war, and is still honored in many parts of Mexico.

every day is a good day to party but it is just a little more FUN when you can label it St Paddy's Day or Easter or Flag Day.
We wont be able to make it over to Mulege but all who go to the dinner - be sure to have a pint and think about us!Lindalou - 3-13-2015 at 05:36 PM
Richard and I had a wonderful St. Paddys dinner at the Jungle a few years ago. You had to buy your tickets early so they knew how much to buy and you
were assured of a lovely plate of food. Yum
