tecatero - 3-14-2015 at 07:37 AM

where did you get it, great news

Bob and Susan - 3-14-2015 at 07:44 AM

here is the guy to talk to...
he's in Ensenada but the installer is in mulege today

6461360495
or email
hamit_parral@hotmail.com

the cost is $440usa for the equipment
$210 for the install
service is $60usa a month

activated in mexico not the usa

i'll make a video showing the speed difference as soon as I can
its nice to have real internet speed again

we did a test last night using video Skype
WOW...it worked when hughesnet would never work
very clear with no breakups...NONE

my next trip north I may need to buy a "magicjack" plug for telephone service

the ONLY problem now will be that I MAY use more data download time watching videos...I'll have to be careful with my use

I've never had to worry about the number of bytes I use. What do you get for $60 per month?

Bob and Susan - 3-14-2015 at 07:55 AM

we get 10gigs for $60usa a month

what does that mean?

hughes gives you 300mg a day then you are FAP'ed
for 30 hours

this service is about the same per day...but has a monthly limit
instead of a daily limit

there is a bar to check your "data left" amount

we'll see how fast I can burn data

monoloco - 3-14-2015 at 08:03 AM

I'd use that 10gb up in about 3 days.

SFandH - 3-14-2015 at 08:06 AM

How many gigs is a typical Hollywood movie? A couple/few??

Bob and Susan - 3-14-2015 at 08:30 AM

my daughter says its about the same as her wireless data plan in the USA

she says we'll be able to watch about 5 movies a month
...I don't know yet

mono if you use 10gigs in three days then you are streaming music and videos 24-7 : )

bottom line...its about the same download of data as hughesnet for $30usa less a month
and ALOT faster speed

the company hughesnet lies to me all the time...their support too
the ONLY honest straight/honest talkers have been the installers that have to FIX the hughesnet problems...the rest are horrible

so far so good

Interesting,, both dish's are pointed pretty much the same.. I would guess they don't have their own Satellite and are buying bandwidth from Hughs or someone else... as several in the states do...
Hughs has at times done the same as Telmex Infinitum they oversold what their capability were..
Our hughs downlink was pretty good in Colo but the up had some delay...
Wildblue was one that came along and used Hughs satellite also..
Our biggest problem with Hughs was the FAP and usually we did it at the first of the month when we needed to pay bills.
Will be interesting to watch and see how this works out...

I just checked our data usage here in San Diego - we use around 5-6 GB/day with a high day of 48 GB on the 11th - Xbox live (son) eats up the data!

tecatero - 3-14-2015 at 09:08 AM

How far south will it work ???

Loreto, Insurgentes , San Juanico........??

monoloco - 3-14-2015 at 09:10 AM

One movie downloaded in 1080p is between 1 and 2 GB, add software updates, VOIP calls, music streaming, app downloads, photo uploads to cloud storage, guests with iPhones iPads laptops, etc., and it adds up pretty quick. We used to have Tecel banda ancha with a 10GB a month limit, and never once made it to the end of the month and we were careful not to stream video. Now we are fortunate to have a wireless service here (BajaConnect) that beams access from Telmex wirelessly without limits.

tecatero - 3-14-2015 at 09:17 AM

Do they offer bigger plans i.e 30gb a month?

bajalinda - 3-14-2015 at 10:03 AM

Many thanks for all the info, Bob and Susan.

Also very interested to know how far south it will work. Did the installer or the Ensenada guy have any info about that?

Exede uses a ViaSat Satellite. We have had them for several months and the only situation we had was that the credit card we were using was updated and we didn't let Exede know. One phone call and it was taken care of. Great service. We are located south of Ensenada. They have a great web page that allows you to see what your usage is. Easy to navigate. We don't use much streaming seeing we have Direct TV and can order up films through that service. ViaSat has announced a deal that would greatly expand it's coverage area.https://www.viasat.com/news/viasat-and-eutelsat-enter-first-kind-agreement-link-high-capacity-ka-band-satellite-networks.

BajaParrothead - 3-14-2015 at 12:01 PM

Bob, try to take advantage of the free night zone between midnight and 5:00 AM. Any data used up/down, does not count against your plan. You might need to download software to schedule your movies to be recorded to your hard drive and watch them later at your convenience. Mozilla has one and there are many others out there.

Pescador - 3-14-2015 at 04:34 PM

I have had Infinitum for the last year and at 6 in the morning we would get speeds of up to 1.8 and we thought that was lightning speed compared to Hughes. But by 9 in the morning it was usually down to .8 or lower and when it dropped below .6 it would not do much. So the technician comes to my house today, installs the dish ( I figured if it is good enough for Bob it is good enough for me cause he is really sharp and thorough) Well it jumps to 3.8 which is faster than I have seen south of the border. I am ecstatic. I will keep the Infinitum and use it early mornings cause I don't have to worry about the FAP. but this thing is really fast and here we are at 4:30 in the afternoon.

10gig

bobh00 - 3-14-2015 at 06:37 PM

Wow 10 gig is 10240 MB and when you divide that by 30 days you get 341.3333 mb per day!!

What happens if you go over the 10 gig ??

Exceed is part of Wild Blue Yonder we have it in far east San Diego county its great we get very close to our limit. If you go over they reduce your power. But you can purchase more and customize it to your usage. we really like it.

Exede Internet Service in Punta Chivato, BCS

Fastbird - 3-19-2015 at 11:57 AM

We had Exede installed 3/18 , Wed. by Tech Issac. The install and setup took about 2 1/2 hours. We are seeing upload speeds of 1.5 to 3 Mbs and Download speed from 12 to 19 Mbs...just as advertised. We can now use our Netflix account. It is just what we needed here in Chivato!

Pescador - 3-19-2015 at 01:04 PM

Bob, the three Russian ladies that stayed at your place showed up at Armando's Restaurant on Santispac. We told them how to find you. They were delightful and said they were staying at your place and then going to see the whales.

Bob and Susan - 3-19-2015 at 05:41 PM

the "Russians" are gone...off to the whales...nice ladies...they laughed and laughed

a great vacation for them

internet...
we are burning gigs!!!

holy cow...fast

we upgraded already...now 25gigs
too many videos

Pescador - 3-21-2015 at 07:18 PM

They had never heard some of the songs we did, but that did not stop them from getting up, dancing and having a great time. We had a lot of fun with them. When they first walked into Armando's I could see they did not speak much English, not much Spanish, so I was curious as to their roots. We were expecting some other friends from Loreto who were from Estonia, but these women were not with my friends. Glad they had a good time at your place.

greengoes - 3-22-2015 at 08:42 AM

You will burn 300mb a day in a few hours watching any type of streaming media: Netflix, Youtube, Vimeo and Hulu.

It costs about the same as Telcel 3G per MB used, you just get more to use for more dinero.

Bob and Susan - 3-22-2015 at 12:56 PM

worth every dime...
