Super Ley in Santa Rosalia

BajaBlanca - 3-24-2015 at 07:24 AM

I decided to put this under photo gallery since it qualifies as a trip for us, but it is all about a supermarket!

We did in fact go to Santa Rosalia last week and stopped by the super ley since it is so new for us. What a treat - it is large and incredibly well stocked and .....see for yourself:

As soon as you walk in, you start drooling or at least I did

for us, the produce is a real treat as our store in La Bocana, which is so nice and stocked with Costco items that we call it the la bocana Costco - just doesn't get beautiful local produce:

at the back is the seafood:

and to the right of the seafood is the meat dept.:

Somewhere in the middle is the booze:

beautiful bottles:

Poland very well represented!

Bear in mind that this is really the very first super duper market and that it is located in the middle of the peninsula. It is sure serving a lot of nearby communities.

so, there you have it - a first (surely) post on a supermarket LOL

Wow, thanks for the report. As much as I hate to go to SR I think I'll change some and try it out.

Looks quite a bit larger than ours in Loreto, which was built on a property way too small for what they tried to accomplish with an upscale type of market.
Everything is stacked on top of each other. Isles way too narrow, never enough registers open, so the folks waiting are often in the way of the flow of traffic. In short, pretty poorly planned store. Also, should train their personnel not to stock shelves while store is busy, thereby blocking more of the isles than their customers.:no:
They also managed to build an annex which never seems to have anyone in it, but managed to take away a major part of their parking.
Great planning!!!

Nice, you just want to reach thru the screen and grab some, especially the fruit.

We were at the Ley's here yesterday. Looks just like it did right after Odile. Doesn't look like they are doing anything to get it open again. I always liked their produce.

great that you all enjoyed the report-we bought some fruit and some tomatoes that are so hardy you want to just bite into them right then and there. Today's salad that Les made was absolutely delicious. He also uses them in his English Breakfasts with the cooked tomatoes - ahhhhhhhhhhh so good.

Great photos! We like to check out markets when we are traveling in Baja. Thanks BajaBlanca one question where in SR is it located?

BajaBlanca - 3-24-2015 at 06:25 PM

It is located one road back from the highway - you can actually see it from the highway and there is a road leading up to the garage which is located beneath it. If you know where the COPPEL is, it is right in front.

Being that I am directionally challenged, could someone else please pipe in with more specific directions?
