Very nice

StuckSucks - 3-26-2015 at 08:24 AM

WOW - what a beautiful day in Gonzaga! Thanks for sharing!

David K - 3-26-2015 at 08:44 AM

That was great! Nice to see that the restaurant built just above high tide over 50 years ago, is still just above high tide! :light:

StuckSucks - 3-26-2015 at 02:02 PM

Just watched the video again and experienced an epiphany: it is an excellent archive of what Gonzaga looked like in 2015, before the Marriotts and Hiltons moved in. In 2015 there was no McDonald's or even OXXO. In 2015 the dirt runways hadn't been moved to the new airport out of town. The small houses lining the bay hadn't yet been replaced by resorts and golf courses.

They've figured out the pavement part, now they just need to solve the water and electricity problem.

blackwolfmt - 3-26-2015 at 02:55 PM

That is really cool where the high tide mark is talk about beach front, a couple of us are planning a trip down there SF and Gonzaga maybe middle of October for a couple weeks can't wait I wonder if there are any Bulldogs down there??

willardguy - 3-26-2015 at 03:12 PM

 OMG whats next, drones and waverunners?

David K - 3-26-2015 at 03:13 PM

I hope it is quieter over at Punta Willard!

treuboff - 3-26-2015 at 07:37 PM

The water almost comes up to the generator room at high tide. The tide was way out in this video. Cool video!

BajaWaverunner - 4-15-2015 at 10:18 AM

It took about 3 hours of footage to get 3 minutes of useable video.

rts551 - 4-15-2015 at 10:35 AM

Nice video...What model drone was that?

And David, why do you have to start these things?

DJI Phantom 2 + Zenmuse Gimbal + Gopro 3. The gimbal keeps the camera perfectly steady no matter what the drone is doing.

That was really FUN! Thanks:bounce:

I thought you did not like name calling. Remember this next time you start whining.

Even the most ardent now say there is climate change and rising tide...just not man made. Get with the program david.

Chicken Little is not the s word or other foul words you call me, it is a historic story of the myth the sky was falling... like the myth the sea levels are rising in our life time in as much they do anyone harm.

As clearly we can see in Baja, all homes are still the same level above the sea. Beach erosion may move the coast and destroy homes, but a rising level of the ocean is not the cause.

Still name calling. Rich, says the water level is rising in our area..and I have to agree.

Interesting in that 'sea level' is a world wide point of reference. Elevations of mountains are "above sea level", etc. So, other than normal fluctuation such as tides, and atmospheric pressure changes, how is it the 'sea level' on one side of Baja is rising... but not on the other???

Pompano's old house at El Coyote, Alfonsina's Resort, the Puertecitos hot springs, etc. ... all places at or just above the sea level 40 or more years ago... are STILL at or just above sea level???

Maybe, there is a tectonic tilt going on, and Abreojos, Asuncion, etc. are being dipped into the sea?

So the measured rate of 3.5 mm ocean rise (global mean sea level) per year is pure BS?

David K - 5-1-2015 at 03:47 PM

The Sky is not Falling, even if it is not a lie...

3.5 mm or about 1/8" per year rise...? That's destroying a beach camp?

In 50 years, that is under 7 inches total.

The tide rises and falls in "feet" every day.

Next!

OK. we got that settled. It is rising. So now we can move on to coastal impacts. do you agree that a 1 inch rise in ocean has an exponential increase in the amount of land consumed, depending on land and ocean terrain?

David K - 5-1-2015 at 04:33 PM

I have not said things are not changing, including climate... what I do believe is that things have ALWAYS been changing... way before man was here or burning fossil fuels. To blame man for any change in global climate now, or to think man is greater than God (Nature) and can reverse the natural change is ludicrous. Taxing Americans or paying for "carbon units" to Al Gore is also bordering on insanity to think giving money to democrats will change the climate!

I can show you places 300 feet above sea level (today's sea level) with sea shells that are a few million years old. At your rate of 3.5 mm per year (if unchanged), in 26,125 years from now, the sea level will return to that point.

How many feet higher can the sea level go before homes at Alfonsina's will have daily high tide lapping at their porch? Well, if the homes are let's say just 5 vertical feet higher than the normal high tide, then it will take 435 YEARS to get there.

Next!

Difficult to understand because there was NOTHING offensive in that post that disappeared.

Strange, indeed
