Calling a phone in Ensenada

I need to know the details to use my US cell to call a number with the following sequence: 044 (646) xxx xxxx.

is a 001 needed in front of all numbers?

edit: i'll be calling from Baja.

If calling within Baja - just dial the area code and phone number. You should not need anything else no matter what phone you use. IF it won't go through try adding an 01 to the beginning but I'm fairly sure you'll get through with just the area code and phone number. You absolutely will not need the 044 part.

Edit to say: no matter what cell phone you use. A landline is a whole nuther animal.

The best news is if you are calling any where in Mexico from a Mexican land line No long distance charges any more.

When calling a cell phone from another cell phone the 044 is not necessary in Mexico but it is when calling from a landline.

we used to bring just enuf bud to get by for the day. we'd stop in the median at Coronado Ave on I-5 and drop the bag in the planter. that evening we'd cross north and know right where to stop! this went on for YEARS!!!!
