Last week while having lunch at Alphonsina's (SP), overheard someone saying they saw whale sharks in the bay that day. Can anyone confirm this?
We were getting 64 to 66 degrees in BOLA water which Doc says is typically late-May temps.Santiago - 4-1-2015 at 06:10 AM
By the way - the flies in the café were brutal. Fellow diners we waving napkins with one hand while eating with the other. these were normal house
flies.freediverbrian - 4-1-2015 at 06:43 AM
We have seen and swam with the whale sharks many times. My kids have posted vids on YouTube with us swimming with them. Search whale sharks in
Gonzaga. Some trips we see many other trip none. Good luckBooJumMan - 4-1-2015 at 07:46 AM
I think he was asking because of the time of year. Cortez side is also warm eh? San Diego ocean temps are in the mid 60s as well, which is very warm
this time of year. Hope to get some upwelling and scare the tourists home David K - 4-1-2015 at 07:55 AM
Jim, there is no PH for the F sound in Spanish, so it is simply ALFONSINA'S.
To confirm your quest, I have seen videos of whale sharks in the Ensenada de San Francisquito (the bigger bay most call 'Gonzaga' as well as the
smaller bay on the north that some call 'Willard Bay', after an error by U.S. mapmakers a hundred years ago).freediverbrian - 4-1-2015 at 05:35 PM
If that is the case then NO I have never seen a whale shark in "Gonzaga Bay "only in the bay to the south we must be accurate. With the teacher

Jim put the sp? after Alphonsina's... so I politely answered his question and did not 'correct' him. Marc - 4-1-2015 at 07:17 PM
I have seen whale sharks there a few times. Hope to see them in two weeks while I am at R Grande or Baluga. Great fun to jump in and swim with them.
As far as flies....they are always more than one can stand at Gonzaga. I am bringing my new Bug-A-Salt weapon and will wage war. Tioloco - 4-1-2015 at 07:17 PM
So.... Yes or no??? Whalesharks in what normal people call Gonzaga Bay? Are they in the bay now? Santiago - 4-1-2015 at 07:26 PM

It shoots a small spray of salt. Saw it on TV. brewer - 4-4-2015 at 03:38 PM
Stayed there night before last. Didn't see any. If they were around, no doubt they were chased away by the huge crowds. Jet skis, wave runners,
power boats, wake jumpers, ripping the place apart. On top of that, the booming Noerteno music and quads, razors, dune buggies, screaming down the
beach helped to disturb the peace.
I hope no Whale Sharks are run over this Semana Santa.brewer - 4-4-2015 at 03:41 PM
Oh yea, and with the amount of trash left behind, the flies should be coming in swarms.willardguy - 4-4-2015 at 03:53 PM
good for them! they deserve to blow off a little steam now and then! basautter - 4-4-2015 at 04:54 PM
Aye, I have seen them many times, and swam with them too! I have heard they are most prevalent from August to December, but have only been there in
September and October, and have seen them every time. I generally stay a week, and don't see them every day. Water must be calm. IM me for more
info. Heading down this October to see more.
