Ventura, CA has chosen Loreto, BCS as its first and only Sister City.
This week, the presidente of the municipio of Loreto, Jorge Aviles, was given the key to the city of Ventura by Mayor Cheryl Heitman. Included in
their getting to know the area, Aviles, accompanied by his wife, Nancy, took an Island Packers boat from Ventura Harbor to Santa Cruz Island, where
they enjoyed a tour of the University of California Santa Cruz Island reserve facility in the island's central valley. Loreto has been selected to be
the site of the first Sister Reserve of the UC system; Channel Islands National Park and Loreto Bay Marine Park are in the process of becoming Sister
Parks.
