Best Baja online weather?

Mula - 4-12-2015 at 06:58 AM

I am wondering what is the best weather prediction online page?

I've been using Accuweather and it seems off.

I find Accuweather to be the most INaccurate! We use a combo of buoy weather which generally has fairly accurate wave heights and wind speeds are 5-10 knots lower than we actually get.
http://www.buoyweather.com/wxnav6.jsp?region=BA&program=...

And for a free weekly forecast I like surf forecast as it is good for air temps & wind but they underestimate our swell height...but are pretty good at cloud, rain and sun predictions.

and of course in hurricaine season which aims to be a doozie this year...we use eebmike for satelite images, water temps and storm reports.

I like Baja Insider for day to day.

I'm afraid there is no decent all-inclusive weather forecast source for Baja.

OK, the "best". Doesn't mean "good", and doesn't mean - for all kinds of activities or all locations. Not in any particular order - all 4 have their drawbacks, though Buoyweather is the least useful as a "shore weather" - it's for wind/waves only, and offshore only.

http://www.sailflow.com
Shows wind and air temps, but I suspect they measure it a few miles offshore. In the past they used to show the wind against the area map, now they only show data for "some" location on the map, which location is probably somewhere offshore. Hard to believe, for example, in 72F at noon in BOLA on a clear calm day in mid-April.

http://www.eebmike.com
Shows wind and temps for a small number of locations, and again, not clear where in "Cabo" or SF they measure it. But their home page is good for hurricane watch.

http://www.surf-forecast.com/countries/Mexico/breaks
Shows wind, waves, temps, tides. but only for certain beaches. In the table at the top click at 48 hours. Then, unless you are a surfer, scroll to the bottom of the page to see temps, clouds and rain.

3) http://www.buoyweather.com/wxnav6.jsp?region=BA&program=...

Only wind and waves, and only waaay off-shore. No temps, or clouds, or rain.

I use
http://www.eebmike.com
and
http://www.weatherunderground.com

On last site you can get multiple inf. on different locations, all over North America.

As usual, a big question is where they are getting data for small towns where - I know for sure - there is no permanent weather station :)...

in mulege there's a guy in town that "calls in" readings everyday

every morning he goes to the site and writes them down

there are people everywhere doing this

No accurate forecast for Abreojos as well. Coop has the best forecast. Otherwise I use

http://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Punta-Abreojos/forecasts...

as an estimate.

This is not unlike the the weather.com foks in the US. They have literally thousands of folks with back yard equipment.

There's a remote weather station with satellite feed here in San Nicolas and at the goat ranch at the entrance to the San Nicolas road.

Locals go and record the info daily and push the send button to transmit.

The locals are paid by who knows - - for this service.

But this is a recording system. Not predictions.
